The Friends alum had recently started expressing her happiness about connecting with her father again, after years of a troubled relationship with him. When Jennifer was just 11, John walked out on Jennifer and her mother Nancy Dow in 1979. At the time, Jennifer's mother told her that he would be back and had just gone for a while. This undoubtedly caused Jennifer to develop some resentment and anger, as she wasn't at the time able to understand what a "little while" meant. Actor John Aniston was gone for a year back then. After that, the father-daughter duo had grown apart until a few years ago when he called her up randomly, asking if she'd like to meet him. After that, the duo met regularly, trying to mend their relationship. While the relationship inevitably did heal right away, Jennifer was cherishing the time that she was getting to work on her relationship with her father afresh. She forgave her dad and chose to rebuild the relationship.

She started letting go of her past issues with him and accepting gradually that she can't blame everything on her parents despite the troubled childhood she had to endure. She reconnected well with her father, especially during the pandemic. Jennifer wanted to take the opportunity while she had it and build a better relationship with her dad.
