Jennifer Garner is one of the most lovable celebrities in the industry, and time and again, she's proven that she really does have a heart made of gold.
Garner's mom, Patricia English Garner, grew up on a farm and has a lot of sweet memories associated with it. "My parents, Harvey Newton English and Violet Margaret Sayre English, purchased our family farm near Locust Grove, Oklahoma, in 1936," Patricia told Southern Living.
She recalled that it was during the Great Depression and her "Dad was a laborer, and almost no one was hiring. He was a World War I veteran, and as such, he was given a veteran's bonus."
They apparently got the farmland for about $700, recalled Patricia.
“My parents didn’t even have a car, so when they heard about the land that was for sale, they hired someone to drive them to the property. The farm consisted of a two-room house and 20 acres–minus 1 acre at the heart of the property, which was a Native American cemetery,” Patricia said.
"Mother told me the story of Dad leaning on his heels and negotiating all day over $20. When they finally agreed on a price, the deal was sealed, and the land was purchased. It’s been in our family ever since,” she ended.
Garner's mom grew up on that farm, but eventually, everyone moved away and it was owned by a different set of people. Then finally, in 2017, Jennifer Garner decided to purchase the farm herself.
And she didn't buy the farm only to preserve the memory; she had plans to turn it into a successful business. She also took help from her uncle Robert and aunt Janet who had previously owned the property.
Eventually, Garner set up “Once Upon a Farm” with co-founders Ari Raz, John Foraker, and Cassandra Curtis. The idea was to grow organic fruits and vegetables that could be made into nutritious food for children.
"Once upon a time… we dreamed of bringing baby food back to the roots with organic fruits and veggies harvested from local farmers, blended with love, and served fresh from the fridge. We dreamed of feeling less stressed about mealtimes because we could feed our little one's foods that give them all the nutrients they need – and then some! We dreamed of a company filled with co-workers we’re happy to spend time with every day and that offers the balance between work and life that every parent needs. Now, with Once Upon a Farm, our dream has come true," and this is what Garner's farm is all about!
Founded in 2018, the venture has successfully been in business, and it is such a wonderful example of how one can hold on to something while making full use of it.
