"We remain close and are deeply grateful for the life we've shared and the wonderful daughter we've raised," they said in 2020.
Jennifer Grey paid tribute to her ex-husband Clark Gregg on his birthday with a sweet photo of him. She wrote in the caption, "happy birthday to my best ex-husband @clarkgregg." Many fans praised the couple for remaining on good terms after their 19-year marriage ended in 2020. One person wrote, "I do admire the ability to remain friends and co-parent w/ an ex... Brava." Another added, "So glad that you two are still friends. @clarkgregg You are so awesome, happy birthday."
The Dirty Dancing actress and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star tied the knot in July 2001 on Martha's Vineyard beach and had been dating since 2000. Nearly 20 years later they decided to part ways. The couple shared a joint statement in July 2020 on their social media accounts, revealing, "After 19 years together, we separated in January, knowing we'd always be a family who loves, values and cares for each other," posted alongside a photo of the pair sharing an embrace. "We recently made the difficult decision to divorce, but we remain close and are deeply grateful for the life we've shared and the wonderful daughter we've raised," they concluded the statement, adding that they were "totally crying as we post this."
The former couple continue to prioritize their daughter Stella despite their split. In June 2020, Grey shared a sweet tribute to the father of her daughter. Sharing the picture of the two the 63-year-old wrote, "happy father’s day @clarkgregg❤️i love you and am beyond grateful you showed up just in the nick o’ time to make my dream come true. for continuing to show up as a devoted, loving dad and partner to raise this amazing human with. couldn’t have done it without you."
In the same month, Gregg also shared a sweet photo of himself, Grey and their daughter at her high school graduation. The proud dad wrote, "Have to beam on this one for a moment. Stella Gregg, you didn't get the senior spring you deserved, but you worked so hard and (almost) never complained about the Zoom classes and Zoom senior day. You are deep and wise and hilarious and the world will be better off in your hands. I love you."
As for Grey the actress and writer is focussing on herself and has never felt more comfortable in her skin especially in recent years. She told PEOPLE in 2022, "I just wanna feel who I am now. But I think that when you ask other people who you are and you ask people to love you and you take their opinion as a definition of your worth, it's a slippery slope, man."
