Both stars live on opposite coasts but they are prepared to make long-distance work.
Earlier this year, Jennifer Lopez called off her wedding with long time fiance Alex Rodriguez after rumors about him having an affair with a young reality star began swirling. During this difficult time, the On the floor singer, fortunately, had Ben Affleck to lean on. Despite ending their engagement in 2004, the two have reportedly remained close friends and have been there for each other. "They are friends. They have always been friends and they have seen each other through the years," revealed sources close to the couple. The two were recently spotted spending time together in Montana, which may have helped them realize that they are more than just friends as they have rekindled their years-old love story.
Although their nuptials were called off 17 years ago, the pair is determined to make it work this time. According to PEOPLE, Lopez and Affleck have made up their minds to make long-distance work as they live on opposite coasts. The 48-year-old Argo actor was recently photographed visiting the 51-year-old singer in Miami. "Ben will be in Miami for a few days," revealed an insider. "They are having fun and want to spend as much time together as possible. They will travel back and forth as much as they can to make things work."
Apparently, both Affleck and Lopez are extremely excited about having found a way back to each other and they no longer want to hide it. "They don't want to hide anymore. They are both excited about their relationship. They want to make sure they do everything they can to make this work. Jennifer is incredibly happy. She feels like she can just be herself around Ben," the source told PEOPLE. The lovebirds recently reconnected after Affleck "reached out to Jennifer as a friend," revealed a source. "He was basically checking up on her. He was single and thought she might be single, too," they added.
"Ben reached out to her to see how she was doing and they had dinner together a few times within this last month. It's natural between them and the chemistry is unreal. They picked up where they last left off and are enjoying each other's company right now," a second insider close to Lopez told E! News. Affleck's recent visit to Miami comes shortly after the two were seen holidaying together at the Yellowstone Club in Montana. "They were alone," a source told E! News. "Just the two of them." They were was also seen driving together in Montana.
The romantic development in their relationship was bound to happen sooner or later as Maid in Manhattan star previously revealed how their love story would have ended differently if it wasn't for the tabloid frenzy. "I think different time different thing, who knows what could've happened, but there was a genuine love there," she told PEOPLE.
Lopez met the Gone Girl actor in 2002 while filming for the movie Gigli. The Dance Again singer was married to Cris Judd at the time but a year after her split from her second husband, Lopez and Affleck publically announced their relationship. "I felt like … 'Okay, this is it,'" she said recalling the first time she met Affleck. Soon, they became the most popular celebrity couple during that time, especially after Affleck popped the question. Recalling the beautiful moment, Lopez said that it was "traditional, but also in a very spectacular way, as of course Ben would do it … it was very, very beautiful."
In 2002, she appeared in an interview with Diane Sawyer where she gushed about her then-fiance and described him as "brilliantly smart … Loving. Charming. Affectionate." Lopez revealed that her mother approved of Affleck and that "I just admire him in every way." While tabloids played a huge role in ending their relationship last, we hope that this time around they find their happily ever after.
