Almost 20 years ago, JLo's first engagement ring from Ben Affleck was a pink diamond ring with 'sing' written on it.
Jennifer Lopez's second engagement ring came with a special message engraved on it. The 53-year-old spoke revealed that the green stone placed on a silver band had the words: "not.going.anywhere." These words hold a special meaning for both of them because it is from the beginning of their reconciliation. "That's how he would sign his emails when we started talking again. Like 'Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere,'" she told Lowe. During the recent interview, Lopez also revealed that these three simple yet loving words inspired one of the upcoming tracks on her highly anticipated album, This Is Me...Now, which she announced on November 25.
The two first met in 2002, got engaged in 2003, and later called it off and went their separate ways in 2004. Now nearly 20 years and two weddings later, they couldn't be happier. Almost 20 years ago, the Let's Get Loud singer's first engagement ring from Affleck was a pink diamond ring with 'sing' written on it. This time around, the significance of the color green is believed to be Affleck's wife's "lucky" color. "I've realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green," Lopez had mentioned in a previous newsletter, according to PEOPLE.
The musician also reflected on the 20th anniversary of her groundbreaking third studio album, This Is Me... Then. "That album, This Is Me… Then, really captured a moment in time where I fell in love with the love of my life. It’s all just right there on the record and I didn't even realize what was happening or what I was doing. It was just every day going from the set to the recording studio, doing the thing, being in love, him coming into the studio," she told Lowe. "When I listen to the lyrics now, I didn't even realize that I was writing some of our story that would happen, which was sick. … I didn't even realize it was kind of prophetic in a way."
Performing the songs from the record became impossible for JLo after their first "painful" breakup. "I wouldn't even perform these records," she explained. "Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life. And I honestly felt like I was gonna die. It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I … couldn't get it right." But she finally finds that her story "does have a happy ending." She is amazed at how "it has the most, would-never-happen-in-Hollywood ending." She added, "They would be like 'that would never happen so we're not gonna write that because nobody would believe it' ending."
