"Thanks to my amazing soulmate and husband, I am able to love passionately and without fear of being hurt," Jessica Simpson said.
Jessica Simpson spilled some beans about her personal experience involving late nights at the Chateau, private jets, big egos, and even bigger lies, from her earlier days. She was a young singer and a reality star and her love life was a matter of speculation for many tabloids. While many stories about her life were out, there is one that she never revealed, reported PEOPLE.
Simpson was pursued by "a massive movie star" who wooed her and even tried to seduce her. In a new short story she's written for Amazon Original Stories, Movie Star, she tells it all except for the star's name. "They always say they're single," she wrote. She told PEOPLE, "This is a very personal story and I really thought I would never share it!"
When asked about the actor's name, Simpson did not reveal it and said, "I will tell you this… he is still a movie star!"
Writing about her journey, brought back memories of her fast track to worldwide fame. She said, "The whole period was very surreal." She added, "There were times I had a lot of fun, don't get me wrong! But a lot of the time it felt isolating because I am someone who likes to deeply connect with people and I didn't know who was trustworthy and who was not."
Now, she realizes, "I learned you can't always take people at their very persuasive word — seems obvious but it really isn't when you are dealing with someone who sells it so well." And she came out with some wisdom. "Not betraying your own heart and diminishing your self-worth actually feels so much better than immediate gratification if living in a lie," she said.
She also revealed, "I also learned that there is a wide range of what monogamy means in Hollywood!"
She said, "I have learned that self-love is one of the keys to really loving someone else and that true love will never make you question yourself or what's real." But all is well in her love life, as she has a loving family now, as she said, "Thanks to my amazing soulmate and husband, I am able to love passionately and without fear of being hurt."
An initial excerpt from her book has been shared by PEOPLE. In the excerpt, she writes, "a massive movie star walked toward us in jeans and a T-shirt. My bodyguard had said they were friends, but I'd wondered if he had maybe been exaggerating. Judging by the clenched handshake bro hug, the love was real."
She added, "He gave me a different hug, a modified celebrity embrace he held a few seconds longer than I expected. As our mutual friend, my bodyguard talked, this megastar, who I grew up thinking was so hot, eyeballed me up and down. Like he was undressing me with his eyes, which was fine because I had plenty of reasons to ditch that outfit and change."
"This was different than the guilty butterflies that boys my age brought on when I thought something might be possible. This was real." She added, "And I wasn't ready. I fled Movie Star. I made some excuse and acted like Cinderella in bad booties. I wish I could say I was playing it cool. I later found out this was seen as "playing hard to get", said Simpson.
Now at 42, the singer, clothing designer, and best-selling author has been married to Eric Johnson for nine years and is a mom to their three kids. Currently, she is back in the studio, "having fun and getting inspired with music."
