"The flight attendant came up to Sydney with a trash bag and a wet wipe, telling her the captain wants Syd to clean up every drop," Decker said.
Jessie James Decker's sister is upset about how she was treated on a recent flight. Decker claims that Sydney Rae Bass, who is 22 weeks pregnant, was "humiliated" on a United Airlines flight while traveling with her two daughters, Blaire, 2, and Brooklyn Rae, 5. According to PEOPLE, the 34-year-old country singer posted a since-expired story on Instagram detailing the incident.
"My sister @sydneyraebass just texted me from her flight on @united. As you know, she is five months pregnant, high-risk, and also traveling alone with her two small children. Blaire accidentally spilled some popcorn in the aisle, and the flight attendant came up to Sydney with a trash bag and a wet wipe, telling her the captain wants Syd to clean up every drop," she revealed. The incident traumatized Bass according to Decker. "My poor sister is on her hands and knees, crying in the aisle, completely humiliated and exhausted, with her children while everyone else watched. Way to go, United."
Decker who is a mom of three herself questioned whether the flight should have given the kids the popcorn in the first place. "You guys, this whole time I'm thinking that this popcorn is something Sydney just picked up at the little newsstand. Sydney had two flights, and United, on the first flight, they gave them both popcorn," she explained. She then put out a question to her followers as she wondered "If popcorn is a hazard, why are they giving it on planes? Y'all, this is just..." she trailed off, highlighting the fact the flight attendant told her sister that the popcorn being left on the ground would present a "safety hazard."
According to NBC New York, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher, Anthony Bass, also spoke about the incident and seemed just as angered by how his wife was treated. "The flight attendant @united just made my 22-week pregnant wife traveling with a 5-year-old and 2-year-old get on her hands and knees to pick up the popcorn mess by my youngest daughter. Are you kidding me?!?!" Bass tweeted on Sunday, April 16, along with a photo of his toddler and the popcorn under her seat and in the aisle.
Soon after United Airlines responded to look into the matter. "Hi there, Anthony. We certainly understand your concern and we'd like to look into this. When you have a moment, please DM your wife's confirmation number along with any additional details regarding her interaction with this crew member," the tweet read. The athlete later confirmed to his followers that "United Airlines is taking care of matters with the flight attendant internally."
