This adorable Hollywood couple has been balancing work and family perfectly and still continue to achieve great success.
Hollywood is not really known for the longest-lasting relationships but there is a young and talented couple that makes everyone go "awww" thanks to how devoted they are to each other. What began as a romantic partnership for actors John Krasinski and Emily Blunt has also translated to a creative one now.
Theirs is the kind of healthy relationship where the partners support each other's work and appreciate each other immensely. Hello Magazine said that John told Graham Norton Show in May 2019 that he has watched the film Devil Wears Prada, "give or take 72 [times]." And, he did this even before meeting her in real life. “When we first started dating, I didn’t know that she was coming over and I was watching it, and she was like, ‘Oh, what are you watching?’—and I quickly changed the channel to something dude-like,” he told Elle.
John was dining with actor Justin Theroux when they ran into her and they were introduced. Both were single at the time and it was almost like love at first sight.
“It’s one of those things where, as soon as you meet someone, you kind of know,” John said on The Ellen Show. “I wasn’t really looking for a relationship… then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, ‘Oh god, I think I’m going to fall in love with her.’ And as I shook her hand I went, ‘I like you,'” he said. “So if anyone’s looking to pick up a girl, that’s the way to do it. You don’t need any pick up lines; just be weird.” He added, “I guess she was charmed by my totally being an imbecile.”
The couple got hitched in 2010 privately and have never shared many details about the proposal either. However, he did say that he did it in L.A. “There were unicorns and oceans and clouds,” he told Access Hollywood back in 2009. He also said that both of them became emotional. “She did cry after I cried and we cried and then everyone around us was crying,” he added. “Then, I think people weren’t really sure what was going on, but they were crying because we were crying. But it was great.”
They recently worked together in the film A Quiet Place, which was directed by John. He and Emily played the leads in the film. He spoke about working with her on the show and said, "It was weird because I was very nervous about it to be honest. We both were. I think it’s one of those things where people think because we’re both in the same business, we have the same experiences, but I’ve actually never been on set with her – seen how she worked."
"I heard she was a diva,” he joked. The Office actor added, “It sounds very sappy, but it’s true. I think it’s the greatest collaboration I’ve ever had in my career."
He is very vocal about his adoration for his wife and believes that she is the best part of his life. “The best days of my life started when I met my wife — that’s the truth,” John said, according to Time. “She’s one of the coolest people, she’s so talented, she’s beautiful, and she’s certainly out of my league.”
The couple is devoted to their family and that may have kept their nine-year-long marriage a blessed one. "Family comes first no matter what, and that’s non-negotiable. We have been working a lot this year and we feel so blessed, but at the same time our kids come first and being together comes first,” he said, according to People. He even took time out while filming Jack Ryan to spend time with his wife and daughters. He would go home "every single weekend" when he was shooting for the film.
It was also the same time when Emily was shooting for Mary Poppins, so he would travel from Montreal to London and back.
“Emily was shooting a little indie movie called Mary Poppins,” Krasinski told People. “So they were with her, and we always set up a base, and I always want the base to be with their mom, and I’ll do the flight time.”
For him, being with his family “is not a job or a duty, it’s something I just can’t wait to do. I can’t wait to get back to them. We always make time to see each other.”
Emily also prioritizes her family and tries to maintain balance with her career. “Family is the foundation for why we are able to go off and have fun and have these incredible experiences,” she said. "I try to take big stretches between [projects] to be with the kids," Emily Blunt told People. She believes that family is a “beautiful, secure foundation.”
