John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have two kids together and were looking forward to their third child but were faced with heartbreak instead.
Losing a pregnancy is one of the hardest things some mothers go through. It may make them distrust their own bodies. The couple who faces this hard battle is likely going to feel the pain keenly. Those who love them can only lend support and be there for them.
Chrissy Teigen, 34, and John Legend, 41, revealed that they lost their baby days after the model was admitted to the hospital with severe bleeding. The 34-year-old posted about the heartbreaking news on her Instagram with a saddening photo of herself in prayer. The couple had already named their child Jack but unfortunately, he couldn't survive the many complications.
"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough," said the mom-of-two.
Her post reveals the raw feeling of loss she is feeling after the tragedy. "We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever. To our Jack - I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you," she said.
Her words show that she is blaming herself for not giving him the "home" he needed to live. She acknowledged those who sent them "positive energy, thoughts, and prayers." "We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you," said the cookbook author. She also wrote about how "grateful" she is "for the life we have" and her children, Luna and Miles. "But every day can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it," said the model.
Meanwhile, Legend also grieved in his own way. Teigen shared a series of photos that showed that Legend was right by her side through this difficult time.
In a previous post, Teigen shared an old photo, in which she was seen sitting at a desk in her home. Along with the image, Teigen wrote, "hello from hospital. about to have my second blood transfusion which truly truly truly sounds more dramatic than it is. It’s an IV, but instead of fluids, the blood of some kind human being out there. Baby and I are completely fine, just missing the little things like walking...cooking...playing with the other buttbutts. came across this little gem from ringing in 2020. It all makes sense now!"
The mother-of-two had revealed in August 2020 that she was already pregnant when she got her breast implants removed in June. She had been unaware as a pregnancy test she took showed a "negative" result. When she took another test, a few weeks after the surgery, she found out that she was pregnant, according to Insider.com.
A fan had tweeted to Teigen saying, "Question... @chrissyteigen just announced she's pregnant. Before my breast reduction last year, they did a pregnancy test. Was she pregnant when she had her surgery in June? I feel like with her bump she had to be pregnant before that, but I could be wrong. I'm confused."
Oh, it's quite a story. lol https://t.co/NIxwcQrcI2— chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) August 15, 2020
Teigen then explained what had happened. "I did the routine pregnancy test you do before surgery. It said negative. It was not negative... I never had a positive before. So the morning of John's album release, he wakes up at 3 am to do good morning america. I woke up with him and was like man, should take my monthly test to be disappointed...I was not disappointed," she continued. "But I was scared shitless. Was pretty positive you shouldn't get your boobs out while pregnant? Pretty sure," she added.
They had been expecting their third child together but were met with heartbreak instead.
