"There's still a lot of recovery, but she's doing great with it," the R&B singer added.
Chrissy Teigen is being praised by her supportive husband, John Legend. Speaking to PEOPLE at the Jake Arnold for Crate & Barrel Launch Party in Los Angeles, Legend expressed his admiration for Teigen, 37, and how she is bouncing back from their daughter Esti's cesarean birth on January 13. "There's still a lot of recovery, but she's doing great with it. She's so smart and strong and women go through a lot to bring life into the world and I'm always in awe of her for that," the 44-year-old Grammy winner said. "It's very exciting," Legend continued. "I was just saying my kids are doing so well. My older kids are doing so well with her and (it) just fills the house up with more love," he added.
Legend and Teigen, who are already parents to son Miles, 4, and daughter Luna, 6, are adjusting to their new addition well. "I just think we're more comfortable with ourselves and our parenting style and I think we're just more comfortable being parents now," he shares. "So dare I say, it's easier," the new father commented on his experience being a dad of three.
The R&B singer continued by saying that he had reduced his workload for 2023 but that Teigen would probably prefer if he did so even more. "I'm still working, but less work and I'm not touring this year, but just doing occasional shows," he shared. "And I'm not doing The Voice this season, but coming back later. So it's kind of a moderately reduced schedule. Chrissy probably wishes it was a little more reduced, but this is definitely reducing my workload this year," the singer added.
The musician also discussed how he's trying to be as hands-on a parent as possible with PEOPLE earlier this month. "Obviously I can't breastfeed her," he said, adding, "so I help feed when we use the bottle. I'm happy to change diapers. I'm good at burping her, too." The singer also has another talent in the parenting department. "I just started singing to her a little bit," Legend shared of the private concerts Esti, and her siblings Luna and Miles, are likely getting.
The father said that he wants to be very hands-on to take some burden off of his wife. "Chrissy's good at lullabies, too. I try to help as much as I can, you know, to give Chrissy a break."
Nothing, however, can now dim the happiness in their house. Even Miles and Luna have warmed up to the newcomer. "Our older kids are really into being older siblings, which we weren't sure about," he said. "It seemed like they might be jealous when Chrissy was pregnant. But since Esti's been born, they've been really loving and wanting to hold her and feed her — just wanting to be good siblings," he added.
