The couple has been trying for 2 years now, after having lost a baby in a devastating pregnancy loss in October 2020.
The family of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen just grew a little bit! A few hours after his child was born, the joyful father announced the baby's arrival on Friday, January 13, per PEOPLE. At a private concert, Legend, 43, announced to the audience that they had just welcomed "the little baby this morning."
"What a blessed day," he exclaimed. Although he "didn't get a lot of sleep," the singer continued, he "feels energized" after spending "a lot of time" at the hospital. The amazing baby news was promptly shared on social media by attendees of the special celebration. One concert-goer tweeted, "@johnlegend just told us he had a baby this morning."

The couple has two kids apart from the newborn, a son named Miles Theodore, 4, and a daughter named Luna Simone, 6. The singer discussed his family's preparation for their new child in a March interview with PEOPLE. "We're all excited," Legend said, "and, you know, my kids are old enough to really be aware of what's happening, so they're really anticipating having a new sibling in their lives. And I think they'll be good at being a big sister and big brother."
Teigen, 37, said in September to PEOPLE that Luna and Miles were "very excited" about the addition to their family and that they were informed of her pregnancy early on. "Since we did IVF, we knew probably nine days after we did the transfer that it had worked and we were pregnant," she said. "I told them very, very early. They've been excited for a long time," she shared of her two older kids. "I feel like this is going to be the longest pregnancy to them because they've known since the day. But they've been really very excited."
Teigen explained that the kids knew about the transfer for a really long time, adding that "they knew there was a chance it might not work because that's happened before," talking of the devastating miscarriage the couple suffered in October 2020.
The miscarriage, Legend said in an interview on Sunday Today With Willie Geist, adding, prepared the two for this pregnancy, per E!. "It feels like we learned so much over the years through struggle and through the challenges that we faced," the All of Me singer said, "And I think we've both grown so much. And we're ready. We're ready for a new baby in our lives."
Teigen first revealed that she was expecting in an emotional Instagram post in August where she reflected on the two years since experiencing a miscarriage with their son, Jack. Teigen expressed her joy at their growing family, despite admitting she was afraid to share the news with the rest of the world. "The last few years have been a blur of emotions, to say the least," the author wrote in the August 3 post, "but joy has filled our home and hearts again. 1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way," adding, "Every appointment I've said to myself, 'ok if it's healthy today I'll announce' but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I'm just too nervous still."
