It's been a rough couple of years for John Travolta who has lost a number of people dear to him. However, for Christmas, the actor put his worries at bay and had a joyful time with his children: son Benjamin, 12, and daughter Ella Bleu, 22. The family including  Ben's dog Peanut posed in front of the Christmas tree to record a sweet message wishing fans a Merry Christmas."Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄," the 68-year-old captioned the video.

It must have been an emotional holiday for the family who lost. Travolta lost his beloved wife Kelly Preston in July 2020 following a two-year battle with breast cancer. She was 57 years old when she died. At the time of her passing, Travolta remembered his wife of over 28 years as someone who "fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many."

Sadly, Travolta has not only grieved the losses of his wife and son but also his beloved costars who were also his dear friends. Earlier this month Kirstie Alley passed away at the age of 71 following a battle with cancer.  Travolta shared a beautiful throwback photograph of the Emmy award-winning star and another of the two of them grinning at each other at the 1989 Los Angeles premiere of Look Who’s Talking. The actor suffered the loss of a dear friend and leading co-star for the second time in the same year.

John Travolta made a moving tribute to his Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John who also passed away this year after a decades-long battle with breast cancer. The star shared a beautiful photo of the late actress and wrote, "My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!" he wrote at the time."

Preston's death took a toll on the family and the Saturday Night Fever star had an emotional conversation with his son about losing people you love. On an episode of Kevin Hart's Peacock talk show series Hart to Heart, the star recalled that the pair shared a difficult conversation during a walk through their neighborhood late one night.

Travolta's youngest child explained to him that he was afraid to lose his father too. "He said to me once, 'Because Mom passed away, I'm afraid you're going to,'" Travolta said. "I said, 'Well, it's a very different thing.' And I went through the differences about my longevity and her limited life," the Hairspray star continued. "I said, 'But you know, Ben … you always love the truth and I'm going to tell you the truth about life. Nobody knows when they're gonna go or when they're going to stay. Your brother [Jett] left at 16. Too young. Your mother left at 57. That was too young. But who's to say? I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can.'" He concluded with, "So let's look at it like it's part of life. You don't know exactly. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can."
