"We will see you down the road and we will all be together again," the actor shared in his tribute to his late co-star.
John Travolta is paying tribute to his favorite co-star, Olivia Newton-John, after her death.
On August 8, 2022, Travolta, 68, posted a loving tribute to Newton-John, where he mentioned his Grease costar's "incredible" impact. "My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better," he captioned a throwback photo of Newton-John on Instagram. "Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again."
"Yours from the moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!" he concluded.
According to PEOPLE, Newton-John died at the age of 73. The news of her death was shared on her Instagram page, along with a stunning picture of the late actor.
She "passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time," the caption, attributed to Newton-John's husband John Easterling, read.
Easterling, 70, then shared that his late wife "has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer."
Travolta, who also lost his wife, Kelly Preston, to breast cancer in 2020, said during a 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight about how proud he was of his co-star for braving through cancer.
“She looks incredible,” Travolta said. “She doesn’t look any different than [she did] years ago, and I’m very proud of her.” Smiling, he added, "I'm very happy about Olivia."
Travolta and Newton-John have been friends ever since they starred in Grease in 1974. It was the start of a beautiful journey as friends and they even shared the screen in the 1983 romance, Two of a Kind. Constantly bumping into each other, their fans' favorite meeting was when they reunited last August for Grease's 40th-anniversary screening where they hugged and posed together on the red carpet.
During the same summer, PEOPLE held an interview with the two stars for their Grease! 40th-anniversary special edition issue wherein they discussed their long-lasting friendship. “When you share that kind of meteoric success—and nothing has been able to exceed it—you share a bond,” said Travolta, adding that he still keeps in touch with Olivia. “I’ve been through her having a child, getting divorced, losing her sister. She’s been through my getting married, having children. It’s wonderful and full of shared memories.”
The star will definitely be missed, may her soul rest in peace.
