In addition to being a renowned country singer, Luke Bryan is also a proud uncle. The 45-year-old star was seen walking his late sister's daughter Jordan Cheshire down the aisle over the Labor Day weekend. Jordan, who was born to Kelly and Lee Chesire, is the eldest of three children. Unfortunately, in 2007, her mother and Bryan's sister Kelly passed away of undetermined causes at the age of 39. Then seven years later, her father died of a heart attack. At that moment Bryan and his wife Caroline immediately stepped in to raise his nieces Jordan and Kris, and nephew, Til, and have been caring for them ever since.
On Monday, Jordan's wedding planner posted a video on Instagram showing the beautiful ceremony that took place at the Troubadour Golf and Field Club in Tennessee on Sunday, September 5, according to PEOPLE. In the clip, Jordan could be seen walking his beloved niece down the aisle as Clint Eudy waited at the other end of it. He was also seen fixing the veil on Jordan's Olia Zavozina gown before finally handing her over to the groom, reports TODAY. "The way he squeezes her hand, lawd someone pass the tissues," shared one person, while another expressed, "What an absolutely beautiful moment. Her angels were looking down from heaven beaming with pride."
Even during the reception, the country crooner shared a lovely dance with his niece as they swayed to Phil Collins' You'll Be In My Heart while other guests watched on. In an adorable moment, Bryan was seen patting his niece on the back before gently fixing her hair. Viewers were absolutely taken by the American Idol judge who did not hold himself back from performing his uncle duties to the best of his abilities. Taking to the social media posts, one user wrote, "So so sweet ❤️ I love how he and his wife have truly stepped in for all three kids to be parents to them after so much heartache." Another, according to the magazine, shared, "Their parents are looking down so proud I'm sure 💙."
The newlywed couple went on to honor their loved ones who were no longer in this world with a family tree of photos at the reception. This included Bryan's older brother, Chris, who died in a car accident back in 1996 at the tender age of 26. Understandably, Bryan has witnessed many unthinkable heartbreaks in his life. Opening up to PEOPLE about his losses, he said, "You never get over it. You truly never settle in your mind that it happened. I mean, it’s always there." However, the father of sons Thomas, 11, and Tatum, 11, does not let this tragedy define his life and somehow finds purpose. "I've had so many tragedies in my life it's almost like you don't want to tell the story because you don't want to feel like you're out there craving sympathy," he shared.
"If I can inspire people to move on from tragedy, hopefully by my behavior that's what life's all about for me," he said, noting that he was born on the sunny side, "thank God I've always been a pretty joyful person." But throughout this life, he's had to seek the light in order to keep going despite the heartbreaking realities. What helps, is his belief that Kelly, Chris, and Lee are three guardian angels who are watching over his family at all times. "Maybe [they] have moved some puzzle pieces around to make my life so fortunate," he shared in his docu-series Luke Bryant: My Dirt Road Diary. "When I say my prayers at night, I have to say, 'Thank y’all for looking after us down here,'" he added.
