"We just really, really like each other and we just enjoy each other's company," she said of her husband during an interview in 2018.
From being coworkers on the sets of Brad Pitt's film, The Mexican, back in 2000 to being parents to three beautiful children, Julia Roberts and her husband Daniel Moder have sure come a long way. For the rest of the world, the 4th of July means one thing, but for Roberts and Moder, it's the day they said "I do" to each other, back in 2002. To mark their 19th year of marital bliss, the actor shared a rare selfie with her husband on her Instagram handle.
According to PEOPLE, the actor shared the picture with the caption: "19 years ❤️🤍💙 Just getting started! #conwings😉"
Moder worked as the cinematographer in The Mexican, where Roberts was the female lead. The movie, which was released in 2001, got them together and then, the couple decided to tie the knot at her ranch in Taos, New Mexico. Together, the couple is parents to twins Phinnaeus Moder and Hazel Moder and another son Henry Daniel Moder. According to Roberts, her life changed the moment she met Danny.
While they were working together, Roberts was in a relationship with Miss Congeniality star Benjamin Bratt and Moder was married to make-up artist Vera Steimberg. There was a connection, but before they could work on that, they had to sort out their separate lives.
"He sorted his whole thing out, separate and apart from me. And I sorted my life out, separate and apart from him. I think that's the only reason we were able to ultimately fall in love with each other and be together," she told Oprah in 2003. But how is it that they began to connect, with her being the lead of the movie and him, behind the camera? Well, Roberts is apparently a very cool person while on set.
"On the set, I get pretty relaxed. These guys see me at 5 in the morning, when I come stumbling onto the set like 'What the hell is goin' on?' In those circumstances, you can see what a person's really made of. Some great friendships can be formed because you see one another at your best and worst."
In the interview with Oprah that was a year after her marriage, she said, "I think it's not so much that I'm happier now than ever; it's that I'm more content. I'm in the harbor of my life. A huge part of it is my marriage. My husband, Danny, has really shined the light for me. Because of being married, I've met people and experienced all these little things that have nurtured my life—not so much changed it, just nurtured it in a way that's astounding."
Roberts is a well-known name in the industry but Moder isn't that widely recognized, but as the Pretty Woman star says, "The jobs don't get married. The people get married. It sounds clichéd and I've said it a thousand times, but I do think that I am fundamentally the same relatively simple person I've always been."
"I think that first kind of real 'seismic shift' was meeting Danny, getting married to Danny," she told the Avengers actress. "That was the first like, my life will never be the same in the most incredible, indescribable way."
She continued, "He truly, to this day, to this minute is just my favorite human. I'm more interested in what he has to say or his point of view just than anybody. Really, we're so lucky in that way. We just really, really like each other and we just enjoy each other's company."
Nearly two decades later, Roberts and Moder are still going strong. "He's the best decision I've ever made," Roberts emphasized.
