Justin Bieber had been worried about being able to stay committed in his marriage but he overcame it.
Many people grow up dreaming about their wedding day. They make elaborate plans about what their perfect wedding would look like and who their perfect partner would be. Even then, it's not unusual to have cold feet when it actually happens. Singer Justin Bieber, who got married in September 2018, might seem totally besotted with his wife, Hailey Baldwin Bieber, but he confessed recently that he had a few doubts before making the lifelong commitment.
In the end, the 25-year-old reminded himself that he always wanted to be a husband. The Yummy singer spoke to Ellen DeGeneres on her show recently and opened up about the fears he had before tying the knot. The talk show host and comedienne showed the Baby singer a photo of the first time he met his wife, back when they had no clue how their destinies are intertwined.
They met for the first time in 2009 when Baldwin's father brought her to Bieber's Today Show appearance, according to seventeen. She did not want to be there, it seemed to Bieber, according to his docuseries for YouTube. "For the most, young girls back in the day it was like, 'We're going to see Justin Bieber? Tight! Let's go!'... She got there and her eyes were closed and she was like, 'Nice to meet you.' She didn't care at all," he said. However, he attributes her disinterest to her father being in the business.
"I think she grew up, her dad was kind of in the industry," he said. "I think she was a little jaded at the time. I'll blame it on her jadedness."
There was anything but disinterest when they reconnected as potential romantic partners years later. Knowing each other for 10 years helped them realize that they can do the long haul. They got engaged in 2018 and two months later they were married in September of that year.
Bieber revealed that he was "extremely nervous" before asking Baldwin to marry him as he wasn’t sure he was ready for the "serious commitment," according to People. "In the past, we talked about me asking the question and I felt like she would say yes, so I wasn’t really nervous about her saying yes. But I was more nervous about, 'Am I going to make this commitment? Am I able to make this commitment as a man and be able to honor what I say?'" he said.
"That’s a serious commitment when you say you’re going to love someone for better or for worse and like, be faithful. That’s a huge thing," he added. "Am I able to do that? And so I think that is what I was really battling with."
The Sorry singer, who called his wife "precious", said that he eventually realized that he was ready to make this serious and lifelong commitment. "I was like, 'I’m going to make the decision and follow through with it. Be a husband,'" he recalled. "This is what I’ve always wanted. I’m going to choose this woman and just do it," he added.
In a new docuseries for YouTube, the Love Yourself singer said that while he always wanted to get married and have a family, for a while he thought it wouldn't happen for him. Then he met his wife. As per Seventeen, Allison Kaye, a member of his management team, even says in an episode, "If I could handpick a girl from the stars, it would be Hailey. She was the kind of girl I wanted him to be with."
Not just the singer, but those around him love the main woman in his life too.
