"She couldn‘t wait to bring her home and mother her the way she had always dreamt," Karyn Love's friend said.
A young mother from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia tragically passed away due to breast cancer. Karyn Louise Love was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer that had spread to her liver, bones, and optic nerve just an hour after she gave birth to her baby Billi.
She had expressed that she was "gravely unwell" while she was pregnant with baby Billi. She was scared that she might lose her child so she was rushed to the hospital at 29 weeks with severe back pain in May 2021. Love was informed that she would not leave the hospital but she fought through and left two weeks later to start treatment of hormone blockers, daily chemotherapy, a long list of complementary medicines, holistic treatments, meditation, and an organic, alkaline diet.
She defied the odds by living for 19 months. "She sat for endless hours in NICU giving Billi healing skin-on-skin time. She couldn‘t wait to bring her home and mother her the way she had always dreamt...When Karyn went for her follow-up with the oncologist her doctor was impressed by her results. Many of her tumours had shrunk. Her liver was returning to its normal size and appearance," the friend said. Finally, when the young mum-of-one was able to take her baby home she was "over the moon" as per news.com.au.
But unfortunately she lost the battle with cancer on December 12. Before her demise, she was able to celebrate her daughter's first birthday."What an honour it is to celebrate my daughter’s birthday and a year of life," Love wrote on the special occasion. "Love has been my secret weapon of choice. The love I have for my daughter. The love I have for my own life. The love the greater community has poured into our life. The love I have for my cancer."
Love's family announced the loss on Instagram alongside a tribute to her with a "life celebration ceremony" to be held in remembrance. "Karyn Louise Love. 1983 - 2022. Smile for me, I am free," the post read. "Thank you for all your love and kindness throughout my journey, I will remember you."
On her Instagram account, Love shared, "I have always been a believer that you need to feel to heal and I have definitely felt pain and sadness and I have also felt joy and pure presence. And that is something we all desire. To be present and live a life of gratitude. Life is a gift and I receive this gift with open arms," reports Tyla.
