She wore a black jacket and a wide-brimmed hat with a veil in adherence to the royal dress code.
Kate, Princess of Wales, donned an elegant outfit for the late Queen's funeral on 19th September. She wore a black tailored coat and a wide-brimmed hat, reports The Independent. Camilla, Queen Consort, and her two children, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte, accompanied the Princess of Wales to the Abbey in a car. Kate also donned a spectacular necklace with four rows of pearls and a center diamond clasp that belonged to her late grandmother-in-law.
The Queen originally loaned Kate the Four-Row Japanese Pearl Choker in 2017 and she also wore it at Prince Philip's funeral in 2021. Princess Diana wore the exact necklace at a Hampton Court Palace luncheon in 1982. Kate wore another piece of jewelry from the Queen's collection to the funeral: the Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings.
As the late monarch's five-day lying-in-state concluded, the final mourners exited Westminster Hall just after 6.30 a.m. on Monday. On the day of the funeral, women in the royal family must adhere to a rigorous dress code. Even non-working royals, like Meghan Markle, must wear some type of traditional black lace veil. These "mourning veils," as they are known, indicate that the wearer is in mourning while also providing some privacy if they become emotional during the funeral.
Several ensembles worn by the Princess in the previous ten days have paid respect to the Queen. On September 14, Kate wore the Monarch's personal diamond leaf brooch with a triple of pearls to Westminster Hall, where the Queen's remains lay in state. Her Majesty was last seen wearing it in 1999, when she celebrated her 73rd birthday in Seoul, South Korea, per Marie Claire.
Kate also wore a three-tiered pearl necklace to an engagement at Buckingham Palace over the weekend. This necklace originally belonged to the Queen and was worn by her on several occasions. While visiting military troops at the Army Training Centre Pirbright, Kate also donned a set of earrings that formerly belonged to Her Majesty. The Princess of Wales is trying to pay her respects to the Queen with her outfits and jewelry during all the services following the Queen's death on Thursday, September 8. The Queen must have given Kate the pearl drop earrings a few years ago because the Princess has worn them at least four occasions.
Her funeral ensemble perfectly adheres to the royal dress code for funerals and portrays a dignified and elegant image of the princess.
