The birth of a child is a joyous moment for most people and they cherish the moment. After announcing in March 2020 that she was pregnant, popstar Katy Perry announced on August 27 that she and her fiance Orlando Bloom have welcomed their first child together.

Both Goodwill Ambassadors, the couple announced the news through UNICEF's official Twitter page, along with the first photo of Daisy. "We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter," the pair said in a statement. "But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was," they added. "Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes."

"Since COVID-19, many more newborn lives are at risk because of a greater lack of access to water, soap, vaccines, and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever."

The couple also announced that they intend to set up a donation page so people can support "a healthier world for every child."

Previously, the Roar singer, who is excited about the release of her new album on August 28, had joked that she was waiting to see if her daughter came before the album did. "I don't know who's going to come first, her or the record. We'll see what kind of headline she wants if she wants to be the opener or the closer," she joked, as per ET. "I have a feeling that she does not follow."

"I'm so excited for both deliveries–obviously the child and obviously the record," she said. "I think 2020 may have a silver lining for me," the Firework star said. The star felt like she was going to be "pregnant forever" and is ready to be a mom now.

She knows how she wants to raise her child with Bloom, who is a father to Flynn Christopher Bloom from his previous marriage to Miranda Kerr. The Lord of the Rings star had mentioned how Perry was "great with kids," according to Stuff.co.nz. However, she had to go through an adjustment period when she realized she was going to be a step-parent to his son.

"When you have a child, you realize you're not the most important person in the room," Bloom said. "You know, it crushes your ego, and you go, 'Oh, wow,' right? So it reframes everything. She, you know, is still the most important person in her room [with] her family and everyone else. … I'm sure, you know, having a child for me changed all of that, so I was in a different headspace and she had to kind of work on getting her head into a headspace that felt like, OK, partnership and stuff," he added.

Perry and Kerr are also pals and they get along. Kerr who was pregnant with her third child in September described the group as a "modern family," and added that Perry is "amazing".

Bloom had also mentioned in an interview that he was looking forward to the late nights with his little angel. "There's quiet times at home, just you and the family and the little one, just nursing and sort of being present, seeing where you can help and what you can do to nurture the life into the world," he told GMA.

"I'm really looking forward to those very late nights where I will be getting and doing the breastfeed bottle thing," Bloom added. "I'm looking forward to that because I love those quiet times at night when the world feels like it is asleep and you've got a sleeping baby."

The 43-year-old English actor said that fatherhood is a "magical time." "You know, when an angel pops into the planet, which is what it feels like for me," he said.

Congratulations to the parents!
