The other values she hopes to impart to her child are discernment and integrity.
Singer Katy Perry and her husband Orlando Bloom welcomed their daughter, Daisy, in August 2020. Even before her arrival, according to Good Morning America, Perry revealed some of the values she hoped to teach their daughter in response to a fan's question. The fan had asked her to pick one value that she would like to teach her daughter. Struggling for one choice, she came up with three, and eventually honed in on one she believed was most important.
Speaking on the Australian radio show Nova’s Red Room Live Stream, the 36-year-old said, "Discernment is good... and integrity... and justice." However, she decided to go with the latter and spoke of why she picked it. "Justice is so important for me" because it "always give people the benefit of the doubt," she said. The soon-to-be mother noted that she intends to make her daughter understand the difference between justice and revenge. "Revenge is not something I’m interested in," said the I Kissed A Girl singer. She added that she also cuts her "energy off from those people" because she has no time to deal with negativity.
Perry and her husband are undoubtedly enjoying their time with their little one. Appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show, Bloom spoke of their life after the birth of their baby girl. "Daisy Dove is my little mini-me, mini-mum, mini-Kate," gushed the doting father, reports Hello Magazine. He added, "The eyes look like her, but it was funny because when she first came out she was like me. It was like 'it's a mini me' but fortunately she got those Katy blues which is perfect." He further joked, "But then she sort of she looked like my mum so I got confused because Katy's breastfeeding this mini-me/ my mini-mum so it was a bit confusing."
The proud father also shared that their daughter loves his soothing chants, and sleeps through the night.
Perry, on the other hand, stated that motherhood has had a major impact on her life. She took to Instagram Live on January 28, 2021, and said, "She changed my life and still continues to change my life," according to EOnline.
She observed that motherhood has taught her to appreciate the present and live in the moment. "In a way, it's really encouraged me to be even more present and to value every day. And all we have is this moment. That's what's promised is this moment and nothing else," said Perry.
But she also spoke about the challenges she faced in her journey due to her demanding work life. Yet, she admitted that she's learned how to prioritize Daisy over everything else. "I think that you realize that when you become a mother... you just have to focus on being a mom. And it's not because you don't love other people, it's not because of anything besides you just want to be a great mom," said Perry.
The new mother also had a piece of advice for those thinking of becoming mothers. Despite how great the journey into motherhood is, Perry told her fans it was best to take the responsibility only when you know you are "ready" for it. "So a lot of stuff falls away when you become a mom and it is the best job in the world. I highly recommend it when you're ready," said the singer.
