He thought she'd like to try them, to see what it was like.
Keanu Reeves has a heart of gold with some stardust sprinkled all over. A recent revelation by Sandra Bullock is more proof of it.
Bullock and Reeves have been friends for nearly three decades after they first met on the sets of Speed, which came out in 1994. Around the same time—within a year or so after Speed came out—Bullock, while hanging out with Reeves, casually mentioned that she'd never tried Champagne and truffles. "Really?" he said. "Nope never had 'em," Bullock said. And this is where the conversation ended between them. However, it had not ended there for Reeves.
In a new profile of Reeves published by Esquire, Miss Congeniality star recounted how her pal remembered what she'd said. A few days after the casual conversation, he had shown up at her home on his motorcycle with the beloved treats, and some flowers, so she could try them for the first time.
"He said, 'I just thought you might want to try Champagne and truffles, to see what it's like,'" Bullock said.
"Bullock poured some Champagne, and they opened the truffles," the Esquire reporter Ryan D'Agostino wrote in the profile. "Keanu put his hands out, without a word, and Bullock painted his nails black, same as hers."
Bullock then spoke about how Reeves is a listener and it sometimes drives people crazy. “When I first met him, I would spend as much time as I could filling a silence, just to feel comfortable. And the more I jibber-jabbered on, the quieter he would get. And I thought I don’t understand what’s happening! He’s looking at me with eyes of confusion. He’s quiet. Did I say something to offend him? And then a day or two later, he would arrive with a note or a little package, saying, ‘I thought about what you said.’ And he would have his response.”
Back in 2018, Bullock had admitted to having a crush on Reeves while they were shooting for Speed. A year later, Reeves also said he felt the same way about Bullock back then, according to PEOPLE.
When asked about the rumors if she and the actor were ever more than friends, Bullock answered with a "Nope,". Sure, they never dated, “But who knows?” she says suddenly.
“Keanu’s a guy who, I feel like, is friends with every woman he’s ever dated. I don’t think there’s anyone who has something horrible to say about him. So maybe we could have survived. I don’t know. But we didn’t have to survive anything. We just get to grow up together on parallel roads and tip our hats and meet for a dinner and try to work together. And the longer time goes on, the more in awe I am of the human being. Would I have been able to say that if he had dumped me and made me angry? Probably not."
People like Keanu Reeves actually make the world a better place with their kindness.
