The revelation came to light during a conversation with Carey Hart and Priyanka Chopra Jonas on her show.
Grammy Award-winning singer Kelly Clarkson is spilling the beans about her marriage and revealed that she ignored a 'red flag' that she shouldn't have. Clarkson and her former spouse, Brandon Blackstock, were engaged in 2012 and tied the knot in October 2013 in Tennessee. The couple also share two children, River and Remington. However, after nearly seven years of marriage, Clarkson and Blackstock decided to part ways in June 2020. Recently, Clarkson opened up about her relationship with her ex-husband during an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
During a conversation with Carey Hart, Pink's husband, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, it was revealed that Blackstock had not given Clarkson a push present while they were still together. This revelation came to light when Hart mentioned that he had given his wife a motorcycle as a push present. Chopra then explained the concept of a push present, leaving Clarkson surprised as she was unaware of the tradition. Clarkson jokingly asked if the gift is given to someone who delivers a baby via C-section. Reflecting on her own experience, she exclaimed, "She got a motorcycle?!" and admitted, "I didn't get a present. That should have been a red flag."
Despite not receiving a push present, Clarkson gave her former spouse the benefit of the doubt, stating that she doesn't believe he was aware of the tradition. Following her separation from Blackstock, the singer-songwriter hesitated to release music about their divorce. According to ET Online, in an interview on TalkShopLive, she explained that she had written a lot of music about the situation two and a half years ago but questioned whether it would be appropriate to share those songs publicly.
Clarkson also opened up about how her children are coping with the divorce in a March 2023 interview on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast. She discussed her approach to parenting and ensuring that her kids are in touch with their emotions. In the aftermath of her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, Grammy Award-winning singer Kelly Clarkson has been faced with significant financial obligations. Despite having primary custody of their children, Clarkson is required to pay Blackstock a substantial amount in both child support and spousal support.
According to documents obtained by TODAY in March 2022, Clarkson pays Blackstock a monthly sum of $45,601 for child support. In addition to this, she also pays him a monthly spousal support of $115,000. These financial obligations will continue until January 2024, as per their divorce settlement.
Kelly Clarkson continues to navigate life post-divorce, finding strength in her music and prioritizing the emotional well-being of her children. As she embraces this new chapter, her honesty and openness serve as an inspiration to others going through similar experiences. Talking about co-parenting her kids and them splitting time between parents, she said, “It was so weird because you’ve always had a kid there, and then all of a sudden you’re alone." She added, “At first it’s weird and then you’re like, ‘OK. I can do things,’ It’s kind of incredible. You do get a little 'me' time,” per TODAY.
