Bacon was grateful for the valet’s actions and years later, when he returned to the Chateau Marmont, he made sure to thank the valet personally.
Kevin Bacon recounted a harrowing experience he had when his son Travis was just four days old. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor, known for his roles in popular films such as Footloose and Apollo 13, shared how he once accidentally locked his newborn son in the car, leaving him panicked and desperate for help, per TODAY.

Bacon and his actor wife, Kyra Sedgwick were staying in a hotel at the time. He said, “It was the Chateau Marmont here in L.A., which at that time was one of the few hotels that would allow us to bring the dog...We had rented a car and I don’t know, I was scattered. I wasn’t really thinking."
"Pulled up to the valet at the hotel, jumped out of the car, slammed the door, car still running, keys in the car, windows up, baby still in the car," he continued. "And my little guy was, I think, 4 days old at the time. So to say I lost my s*** would be an understatement."
Luckily, one of the hotel valets noticed Bacon’s distress and jumped into action. The valet, whom Bacon described as “amazing” and “heroic,” quickly noticed a small triangular window on one of the car’s doors and took advantage of it. Using a towel to wrap his fist, the valet punched through the window and opened the car door, rescuing Travis in just a matter of seconds.
"This amazing, heroic dude, it took him literally 3 seconds. He wrapped a towel around his fist. Bam! Right through that window" Bacon said, adding, "He was the valet at the Chateau Marmont."
Bacon was stunned at the valet’s quick thinking and bravery, describing it as “some superhero stuff.”
"Wow! He punched through the window," Kimmel exclaimed. "Punched through it. Took it right out. I was like, 'Wow, that's some superhero stuff right there," gushed Bacon.
After the valet broke the window, he reached his hand in to open the car's door so Travis' parents could retrieve him. "Literally 5 seconds," Bacon said.
He is grateful for the valet’s actions and years later, when he returned to the Chateau Marmont, he made sure to thank the valet personally. The actor even shared a laugh with the valet about the incident and hoped that he had tipped him well.
The incident had a happy ending, and Travis Bacon, who is now 33 years old, has followed in his parent's footsteps by pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. He is an actor, filmmaker and musician. Sedgwick recently posted a photo on Instagram of her son playing guitar onstage, gushing over his musical talent. “My insanely talented kid rocked the house yesterday and I was lucky enough to be there!!” Sedgwick captioned the post. Her husband left a comment, “Wish I was too.”
The incident that Bacon recounted on the show is a reminder of the importance of being present in the moment and paying attention to our surroundings as accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. Luckily, in this case, a quick-thinking valet was able to prevent a tragedy and help Bacon and Sedgwick avoid a devastating loss.
