"Kevin is crushed by the reality that he is facing disaster in both his personal and professional lives," a source said.
Kevin Costner is going through one of the biggest challenges in his life. Insiders claim that the actor is desperately trying to save his second marriage. Costner’s wife, Christine Baumgartner, has filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage but the Oscar winner did not want his marriage to end this way. As for his role on Yellowstone, season 5 was halted allegedly after Costner turned his attention to another project. Insiders claim that his scheduling demands forced the show to stop production before completing this season's final six episodes.
"Kevin is crushed by the reality that he is facing disaster in both his personal and professional lives," a source told Radar Online. "Now, he's faced with the enormous task of trying to fix both." One of the reasons for Costner's recent split is believed to be because of his busy work schedule. When the Oscar winner began filming the second installment of his new four-part Civil War epic, Horizon: An American Saga his wife allegedly had had enough. "Kevin paid her lip service by demanding a more favorable shooting schedule on Yellowstone," said the source. "But then he threw gasoline on the fire by using that time to focus on his Civil War project."
An insider claimed that Costner dropped Yellowstone as part of a "desperate attempt to save the marriage. He seems not to care how it will affect everyone else involved with it." Another insider claimed that "he's facing losing his second family, and his professional reputation is on the rocks. He's practically begging Christine to take him back!"

Baumgartner has asked for shared custody of their three kids in the paperwork for separation. The couple tied the knot in September 2004 and share three children: Cayden Wyatt, 16; Hayes Logan, 14; and Grace Avery, 12. The 49-year-old placed their separation date as April 11. A prenuptial agreement regarding spousal support, legal bills, and property is mentioned in the actor/director's filings. One source claimed to PEOPLE that Costner and Baumgartner's split after 18 years "has nothing to do with Yellowstone." The insider emphasized, "The two situations are unrelated."
A source told PEOPLE that while the 68-year-old "knew" Baumgartner was "unhappy," her divorce filing came as an "unpleasant surprise." The insider said, "Christine wants them to spend family time at their Santa Barbara home." They added, "During filming, Kevin is not around very much. His absence has been very hard for her. Christine doesn't want him to throw himself into another project. He has been obsessed with filming Horizon since last year. She wasn't happy about it."
Kevin Costner is stuck in a real-life Field of Screams as his marriage collapses and his hit TV show Yellowstone flounders in no man's land — and sources say it's all due to his overblown ego. https://t.co/TS8OsWspLI
