Actor Kevin Hard had a hard time recuperating after the accident on September 1, which injured his back.
Life has strange ways to ask us to slow down, believes actor Kevin Hart, who was recently in a near-fatal car accident. The actor and comedian has been through a difficult time, which has led him to realize the incredible beauty of life. He chose to remain quiet and recoup in private, until recently.
The accident and the struggles that followed has clearly changed his perspective on life. He was one of the three people in the vintage car that crashed in Calabasas, California. Hart and the driver, Jared Black, sustained back injuries. According to the CNN which quoted the California Highway Patrol, Black's driving caused the crash in Hart's 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. The car rolled down an embankment, although it was clear that Black was not under the influence of alcohol.
A little after the accident, his wife made a statement outside the hospital and assured fans and well-wishers that her husband “is awake” and “going to be just fine.” She has been with him from the first moment and at every step of his healing. But it is only recently that Hart himself opened up about the accident and the entire experience that followed through an emotional video, which he shared on social media.
In the video, the star thanked his family, friends, and fans who have been with him through the traumatic time. We see the Jumanji actor struggling through the different stages of rehabilitation, as he works through the physical difficulties at the hospital and later at home. The video shows the actor walking with the help of a walker and going through some gruelling physical therapy. In a rather vulnerable moment, he is seen with lying down with his face in his hands—the pain visible in his gesture.
The 40-year-old said his "world is forever changed" after the September 1, 2019 accident, according to GlobalNews. "Basically, what you realize is that you’re not in control," Hart said at the beginning of the video. "No matter how much you think you’re in control, you’re not in control. At the end of the day, it can all be over, man," he added.
He was released from the hospital on September 12, after which he moved to a rehabilitation facility. His friends and family have been around him through the entire phase. Dwayne Johnson even cut short his honeymoon to be with his friend.
"When God talks, you got to listen, and I swear life is funny. Because some of the craziest things that happen to you end up being the things that you needed most. And in this case, I honestly feel like God basically told me to sit down," he said reflecting on the entire episode. The Upside actor continued, "When you’re moving too fast and doing too much, sometimes you can’t see the things that you’re meant to see. After my accident, I see things differently."
Not only does he seem to have gained insights about slowing down and appreciating those who stood by him, but he seems to be moved by the gift of Life itself. In a rather candid moment with his kids, he said, "I see life from a whole new perspective. My appreciation for life is through the roof." The Ride Along star continued, "I’m thankful for my family, my friends. I’m thankful for the people that have been with me ’cause you stood by me. My fans, thankful for all your love and support."
The actor also told his 80 million-plus fans on Instagram to "not take today for granted." He ended the video with gratitude and said that he was looking forward to an amazing year in 2020.
The support he has received is a testimony to how well the actor is respected and loved by those around him.
