Some people are lucky to find their life partner in unique situations and instantly, know that they are going to love each other forever. The 57-year-old actor and comedian Kevin James played many roles in his life but the most important one so far has been that of a husband and father. He values his family so much that he chooses projects keeping them in mind. James has been married to model and actress Steffiana De La Cruz since 2004. The two met on a blind date and clicked almost instantly. The private couple, who keep their four kids away from the limelight has been together since 2001. It was a whirlwind romance from there as they moved in within three months and by fall 2003, the couple was engaged.
Kevin James and Steffiana De La Cruz tied the knot on June 19, 2004. The Kevin Can Wait actor was 39 at the time while his wife was 30. They said "I do" at St. Edward Catholic Church in Dana Point, California, and had the reception at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach, according to CountryLiving. The Paul Blart: Mall Cop (1 and 2) actor and his wife have welcomed four kids since then, with the latest one being born in January 2015. Talking about his baby daughter, who was only 3 months old at the time, the comedian-actor said, "She’s talented, too, I got to be honest. I got her working on a Robert De Niro impression," as per People.
The devoted father makes sure that his family is with him whenever he has to travel for work. "They travel everywhere with me," he said. "[Sistine]’s the best little traveler. She doesn’t cry — only like her father, she cries when she wants to eat and that’s about it," he said in 2015.
The actor, who also starred in King of Queens, makes sure to show his love for his wife. On their 16th anniversary, he posted a photo of them together and wrote, "16 years ago today! You’re all I need... and the kids... and Friday night pizza... and Sunday pasta... but that’s it... you, the kids, pizza, pasta. Love you...Deo Gratias."
They had their first daughter, daughter Sienna-Marie, in September 2005, and Shea Joelle followed in June 2007. Their next two children, Kannon and Sistine, came in 2011 and 2015. "I just love being a dad and spending time with my wife and child, and now we're having another girl," James told People before his second was born. "It's incredible," he added.
The father-of-four often talks about parenting, and being a comedian, he takes a comic approach to it. "You kinda loosen up with the second child a little bit, which is nice. The first child, I remember they just give it to you at the hospital, you're supposed to put her in the car seat and drive home. I was 10-2 on the wheel in the right lane 30 miles an hour on the highway with the flashers going. Second kid, I had the top down. I was steering with my knees," he joked in 2011, reports Heavy.
His kids, who are now aged between six and 15, are the reason James picks PG-rated projects. He once joked that he and his wife have been "breeding them for nothing but comedy." The actor's children have also inspired many jokes on his show Kevin Can Wait, he said. "Honestly, they all come in with their home runs [jokes]," he told People last year. "They don't mean to, but they provide a wealth of comedy. All of our writers have kids, and man, we just draw from it."
The 55-year-old is a dad to three daughters and a son, and he makes it a point to be very present in all their lives. "My eldest daughter is kickboxing," he said. "I’ve got three daughters and a little boy but [Sienna-Marie]’s the tough one — she’s strong," he added. He joked, "I’m not going to lie: She’ll put a hurting on you."
Even while joking, he sounds like a proud father, who loves his kids.
