Ever since Caitlyn Jenner transitioned, the relationship between her and the rest of the Karshadians has been frosty.
Keeping Up With the Kardashians pretty much keeps us updated on everything that might be happening in the Kardashians' lives but there are a few things that we don't know. Caitlyn Jenner (previously Bruce Jenner) came out to the world as a transgender in 2015, but Kim Kardashian had seen her then-stepfather dressed as a woman way before his confession.
During an interview on ABC's The Alec Baldwin Show, the then-38-year-old Kim told Baldwin the moment she saw Caitlyn dressed in women's clothes in his garage.
“I found out when I was maybe 25,” she said, as reported by People. “My mom was out of town and I walked in on Caitlyn all dressed up … as a woman in the garage at my mom’s house. I ran inside, packed a bag so fast, shaking, and ran out and called Kourtney. I said, ‘I have to come spend the weekend with you.’”
“I was hysterically crying. She just was like, ‘What is it? Did you catch [Caitlyn] cheating?’ And I was like, ‘I wish. I don’t know what I just saw.’ I didn’t come home for the weekend,” she continued.
Caitlyn, who back then was known as Bruce Jenner and was married to Kim's mother, Kris Jenner, asked the reality superstar not to tell her mother about her discovery saying, “One day I’ll sit down and I’ll explain this all to you, but until then, please don’t tell a soul and please don’t tell your mother. She’ll kill me.”
Kim wasn't planning to tell on Caitlyn either. In her mind, the welfare of her two young sisters was more important. “I thought, ‘Okay, if I tell her I’m going to break up their marriage and my little sisters aren’t going to have their dad around, so I better keep my mouth shut. I didn’t say a word.”
Kim revealed that even though Caitlyn and Kris had been married from 1991 to 2015, the couple "kind of avoided" talking about Caitlyn's gender identity crisis. “She was so in love. She didn’t think anything would be an issue in their relationship. Did she ever dream that [Caitlyn] would transition into a woman? I don’t think that was ever something she would have dreamed in a billion years," Kim revealed.
In an exclusive interview with Access, the mother-of-four revealed that she saw Caitlyn as a woman back in 2015 and that she looked "beautiful," as cited by The Daily Mail. She said, "She looked beautiful, really beautiful. It was amazing and she looked beautiful, really beautiful. She was dressed up, beautiful make-up, beautiful hair, very, very beautiful and very comfortable."
During an interview with David Letterman, Kim recalled the day she saw Caitlyn dressed as a woman for the first time and revealed that Kourtney tried to research why her stepfather was wearing women's clothes in private. "The only thing we found online was this Oprah episode of a transgender woman and we still couldn’t really understand what it meant," reported Metro.
After receiving Caitlyn's call, Kim said she got confused because, "We all wanted to be there in support of but also wanting to support our mum who this is news to, married to someone for 22 years, her heart was broken. It was just a lot when you kind of find out with the whole world."
Ever since transitioning, 68-year-old Caitlyn has become estranged from everyone in the Kardashian family except her two daughters, Kendall, 25, and Kylie, 23. Kris and her daughters have been quite vocal about the fact that it was Caitlyn’s 2017 memoir that created a rift between the family where the retired Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete accused Kris of knowing more about her personal struggles, reported People.
