The couple has been together for over 37 years but they have never found the need to walk down the aisle.
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are one of the most adorable and cute couples in Hollywood who have been together for a long time now - nearly four decades. That's like a century considering relationships in the industry. Interestingly, they never saw the need to tie the knot because, according to Russell, "For people like us, the marriage certificate wasn’t going to create anything that otherwise we wouldn’t have," as per People.
Did you know that this couple had a wild start to their relationship? Take their first date for example. It was in 1983 that Russell and Hawn were cast in the movie Swing Shift. To prepare for the role, Hawn suggested to Russell that they should go dancing. “She said, ‘We should go somewhere and dance to that kind of swing music [that will be in the movie],” Russell told Harry Connick Jr. on his talk show, Harry.
“I said, ‘I’ll find that.’ The Playboy Club was the only place that had that. So we went to the Playboy Club, and I just immediately was having a great time with this girl, Goldie.” Realizing that the "night wasn't over yet" the two decided to go to a different location that turned out to be Hawn's new property that was being renovated. Since the actress did not have a key to the place, the two wild birds decided to break in!
“We eventually found our way upstairs looking at imaginary furniture and we were in the imaginary bedroom now and we are realistically having s*x when the police walked in,” revealed Russell.
Elaborating further, the 69-year-old added, “We had to break into the place to get in so the next thing I see is a flashlight, and Goldie and I are like what? It was bizarre and weird. We were told to go get a hotel room which we did. That was our first date. It was a lot of fun I can’t believe it was a long time ago.”
That sure was the beginning of their journey together but it was a different moment when Hawn really fell for the handsome actor. After the bizarre date, the actress brought Russell home where her kids from her previous marriage, Oliver and Kate Hudson, who were 5 and 3-years-old at the time, were sleeping. "I remember I brought him back to my house. He came in to see my kids, and Katie and Oliver were sleeping ... I remember how he looked at the children, and I fell in love with him right there," she told Andy Cohen.
"I just got all welled up, and I thought, 'Oh, if someone could love my children the way I do, my life would be perfect'. And it worked out. A lot of things bring people together." Russell was also a father to a son, Boston, from his previous marriage to actress Season Hubley.
It's been 37 years of togetherness for the pair since then. The couple has successfully raised their children in a blended family. And to think it all started with a brush with the law!
