"We've always been each other's biggest support and fans," shared Kyra Sedgwick.
Kevin Bacon, 64, fell in love with Kyra Sedgwick, 57, at first sight, and the two ended up being together for over 35 years! The pair met way back in 1987 when they filmed Lemon Sky together. They have been together ever since and are parents to two children, 33-year-old Travis, and 31-year-old Sosie. As both their kids are grown-up, they live away from the couple.

Sedgwick opened up about her two kids leaving home years ago to Good Morning America. "I think it's a real crushing blow, honestly, when they leave you. It's the only job that you have that if you do it well, you get fired. As a mom, if you do your job well, your children leave you," she continued. Despite it being "hard" and "weird" she said she is "grateful to have adult children now, but "I think initially it's like, 'Wait, what are you talking about? I birthed you and I took care of you your whole life and now you're leaving me!' It felt wrong."

Sedgwick however does enjoy spending time with her partner and recently shared the secrets to their long-lasting marriage with PEOPLE. "We've always been each other's biggest support and fans," she said. Sedgwick admitted, "A sense of humor is crucial," for their 35-year marriage. "He is very freaking funny," she gushed. She even recently directed her husband in the drama Space Oddity. "I love being in charge of the storytelling," the Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner added.

Bacon recalled the first time he met Sedgwick saying he was "knocked out" and thought "she was amazing." But the feelings weren't mutual! Sedgwick was initially put off by the actor who was slowly rising to fame after playing small-town rebel Ren in the 1984 dance drama Footloose. She said, "I remember thinking, 'Oh, he thinks he's really cool'." But that all changed when the two went out to dinner and ended up talking and laughing for hours. The next day it became clear to her that he was the one. "I remember waking up and going, 'I feel like home'," she said. "I realized, 'Oh, that was him'."

Over the years the two enjoyed supporting each other's careers and passions. "She just absolutely adores directing. You can't be a crew or a cast member and not get swept up in that [excitement]," said Bacon, who directed Sedgwick in the 2005 film Loverboy. They also enjoy life outside of work and cherish life's quieter moments together. "To me, walking down the street together just shooting the s*** in the middle of the night still feels like a nice place to be," Bacon confessed.
