"I am more grateful than words could ever express," Lauren Koslow wrote after getting a second chance at being a mom.
Lauren Koslow, best known for her role as Kate Roberts in the famed soap opera Days of Our Lives was separated from her first-born son only days after his birth. The 70-year-old actress is already a proud mother of three children—Josh, Emilia Katerina, and Zacharia and lives a quiet life with her husband, award-winning make-up artist, Nick Schillance, whom she met on the set of Young and the Restless. They have been together for over 30 years, per Soaps.sheknows.
The actress experienced a miracle when she reunited with her firstborn son, Josh, a couple of years ago. Koslow did not reveal many details about their separation but was ecstatic to have him back in her life and it looked like the feelings were mutual. “I can wish my firstborn, my son Josh, happy birthday,” she wrote in an Instagram post in October 2021 alongside a series of pictures of the two. “We were separated three days after his birth and lost to each other for nearly a lifetime.” It’s hard not to get emotional seeing the joy on Josh’s face as he hugs his mom or seeing the pair walking hand in hand through the woods. The actress encouraged, “Those of you still searching — never give up hope. Love finds a way.”
After decades of being apart, the actress reunited with her long-lost son through an ancestry DNA match. "We begin again," she wrote in the post adding a couple of inspirational quotes as well. “Recreate your life, always, always. Remove the stones, plant rose bushes, and make sweets. Begin again. -Cora Coralina," read one, while the other said, "In all of us there is a hunger, narrow and deep, to know our heritage, to know who we are and where we have come from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is a vacuum, an emptiness, and a most disquieting loneliness! - Alex Haley."
Not many are so lucky to have a second chance at being a mom. The TV star also sympathized with those who shared similar experiences, encouraging them to never give up and thanked fans for their support. "Thank you SO MUCH for your love & support & happy Birth Day wishes for my son Josh. I am more grateful than words could ever express," she wrote in another Instagram post. "For those who shared your experiences of loss & grief (& some new beginnings too ), my heart goes out to you. I understand. I am honored to hear your story. You are not alone. Speak your truth and keep hope close," she concluded.
