"She was there with me" before anything, says the star basketball player about Savannah, who is the mother of his three children.
Star basketball player LeBron James and his wife Savannah Brinson are one of those couples everyone wishes to be. With each year together, their devotion to each other increases to new heights. For instance, the NBA star pulls out all stops to make sure that the woman of his dreams enjoys their wedding anniversary. So, this year they have been vacationing in Capri, Italy to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary on September 14.
Last year, King James, called so because he is one of the best basketball players to ever play the game, invited singer/songwriter Daniel Caesar to give a private concert at their home on their fifth anniversary. Daniel sang his hit song Best Part in their living room, according to TMZ.
Even though they were celebrating their fifth anniversary, they have been together much longer than that. The couple were high school sweethearts and have been together for 19 years. They have three children together - son LeBron Jr., 14, and Bryce, 12, as well as daughter Zhuri, 4.
LeBron credits his success in life and sports to his wife and believes that he would not have been successful without her by his side. He was the star of his high school team in Akron, Ohio, and his talent took him straight to the professional league after school. “We have been down since high school,” James told The Hollywood Reporter (THR). "Savannah was with me shooting in the gym when I [had] absolutely nothing... [Savannah] was down when I was at my high school, no cameras, no lights. And she was there with me. You wouldn’t be talking to me right now if it weren’t for her,” he told the outlet.
“5 years strong but in all actuality going on 18 years,” he wrote on Instagram last year on their anniversary, according to PEOPLE. “Happy Anniversary Queen. Love you all the way through the 25th hour in life!” he added, along with multiple photos of the sweet couple.
Even though he is a very successful start, he is still a homebody, who focuses on work and home. "I don't do the celebrity move around. I'm not that type of a guy, really," he told THR. "I go train and I go home. Sometimes I'll take my wife to dinner." He is also a philanthropist whose Lebron James Family Foundation donates generously to multiple charities and causes like education for the underprivileged.
The couple had humble beginnings and their first date was actually at an Outback Steakhouse, Savannah revealed in a 2010 interview with Harper's Bazaar. She was just 16 when they first started dating. She said that while their conversation was pretty simple that night, she realized his feelings for her when he sought an excuse to see her again. “I knew he loved me when I left my leftovers from dinner in his car. I’d totally forgotten about them, and he brought them to me,” she continued, before admitting, “I think he just wanted another excuse to come and see me.”
After years of dating - and two children (their daughter was born after they got married) - they finally tied the knot in 2013. She has been by his side - moving cities with him as he moved teams - while he paved his way to becoming one of the most successful players in the history of basketball, and LeBron has nothing much love and admiration for his partner. "A person like myself always needs a great sidekick and a person you can rely on no matter the circumstances. And she's that," he said back in 2010 to Harper's Bazaar. "She's got my back, and I love her for that."
Apart from being each other's biggest support, they are also always up for keeping the humor in their relationship alive. Savannah recently poked fun at LeBron being too big for a pool float while they were on vacation. She recorded a hilarious video of him trying to get on top of a normal human-sized flotation device. The 6ft-8in NBA player was definitely too big for it.

Love like theirs doesn't happen all the time!
