Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet’s Relationship Remains Unchanged Through the Years | What Makes It Special?

The famous duo have been spotted together on the red carpet since 1997 when they made Titanic and were catapulted to fame. But what makes the pair adorable is that they have defied all rules and remained the best of friends through the years.

Hollywood A-listers Kate Winslet and Leonardo di Caprio (Leo) met before they started shooting for the film, Titanic - a blockbuster hit in 1997. They became friends almost from the start and their relationship has been a story of legends. The actor has met and dated many lovely women but never settled down with anyone. He has actually never been married and people wonder if like actor Jack Nicholson he too is all about "more good times." However, the one woman who has been by his side since 1997 is his former co-star and best friend Kate Winslet.

In 1997, while they were promoting the film, Leo told Entertainment Tonight, "She's such a terrific person in general that our chemistry naturally happened on screen. We just like each other as people. As far as doing a love scene, though, we laughed about it a lot."

When Leo was on stage accepting his first Academy Award in 2016 for The Revenant Kate Winslet shed a tear for her dear friend even though she had lost to Alicia Vikander, according to the Telegraph. Their friendship has always kept us wondering about the nature of their relationship, but the truth might be simple as "men and women can be friends."

The actor was 22 and Kate 21 when they met and were launched into superstardom. Through the entire frenzy and later, they have remained by each other's side. They call each other “love of my life”, “homegirl”, and “best friend”, which makes people wonder more, according to Daily Edge. They pose on the red carpet together and set those rumors aflutter.

Before his Oscar success, she was quoted by Grazia Daily as saying, "I feel very strongly that it may be Leo’s year. And he is my closest friend in the world and I just couldn’t imagine not being there to support him." She even refused to boycott the 2016 Oscars because of this faith. Leo, in turn, spoke about working with her again in the future. "I'd love to. She's my favorite actress in the industry. She's actually hanging out with me tonight. We're gonna go to the afterparties together," according to Elle.

Even though they were separated by death on Titanic, their friendship has survived for 20 years and continues to be the talk of the town. Their dramatic love for each other comes most alive during the awards season.

They worked together again in Revolutionary Road in 2008 which gave Kate a couple of awards and since then people want to see them work together again.

The duo never forgets to compliment each other whenever they get the chance. Leo has actually said, "She's my favorite actress in the industry." Kate said in 2013, "Leo has mastered this more than anyone I know. It's not that he's sort of brazen like, 'I don't give a f*ck and I'm going to be rebellious and behave badly.' It's not that. It's genuinely not caring what people think because he will not allow other people's judgments to have any kind of impact on his life and who he is. and I have really admired that so much in him."

However, what continues to bond them together is their first film together. They still quote lines to each other from Titanic. Kate has also said that she found "one of the greatest friendships" of her life thanks to the film.

She still remembers the first time she met before filming for the 1997 classic began. "I actually first met him at Cannes film festival. He was there and I was there, and we had already heard that both of us had auditioned for Titanic and met Jim [James] Cameron. I was so excited because the possibility of working was there" Kate told Magnus Sundholm.

"I met him in the hotel room with David Blaine and they were both doing magic tricks. I look back on that time and I think, my gosh it does seem so long ago. That's one of my greatest friendships and I'm so lucky to have him. He makes me laugh so much."

People are lucky to find such friendships at least once in their life where the other person understands you completely, and one who makes you laugh.
