In the Instagram post, which received over a million likes, Lily draped a black, floral patterned shawl over a long-sleeved dress. She tied the look together with a pearl necklace and butterfly clips in her lengthy, brunette locks. In the caption, the actress wrote, "I wore butterfly clips to The Oscars. No regrets…" This caption led to a call for the comeback of butterfly clips amongst her fans. One user wrote, "I personally think they need to be brought back," and another commented, "Who wouldn't wear butterfly clips to the Oscars should be the question..."

On that day in 2000, Lily's father won Best Song for his single You'll Be In My Heart, then he took to the stage and dedicated a piece of his speech to his family, as he wrote the track as a lullaby for Lily. The Windfall actress admitted to Harry Connick, Jr, on his show it was her favorite of her father's songs.

Although Lily Collins was not seen at this year's Oscars, she joined Shawn Mendes, Will Smith, Lauren London, and other celebrities backstage at the YouTube Theater at British media personality Jay Shetty's Los Angeles show, as per E! News. The actress has spent many years making a name for herself and has numerous projects under her belt. However, Lily is most well known for playing Emily Cooper in Emily in Paris. "I get called Emily all the time, especially when I'm out on the street in Paris," she revealed to Harpers Bazaar.

In the past, Lily has also discussed the importance of making it big on her own and not because she was her father's daughter. "It was out of the question that people would think that I use a free pass thanks to my name," she told Vogue France. "I’m proud of my dad, but I wanted to be me, not just his daughter. For that, I was ready to wait to break through." She added, “I love to sing. But as I wanted to make my own way, far from the paternal genius, I preferred to be an actress.” She did dabble in music though, recalling, “I played in a few musicals because it’s the only setting in which I allow myself to sing. Frankly, I would be too afraid of comparisons!”
