Presley and her son were very close. In 2009 they got a matching "Celtic eternity knot" tattoo as a symbol of their "eternal love and connection."
Ask anyone, "How long does it take to overcome the grief of losing someone precious?" Some might say days, some years, but there are some who will always tell you that they never forgot their loved ones. A mother, especially, can move places, meet new people and do everything that she can to move on with her life, but she cannot forget her child.
Singer Lisa Marie Presley has everything in the world. Maybe she has a genie in a bottle that can grant all her wishes but there's one thing that can never be fulfilled, not until it's God's plan. Do you know what's that one wish is? It's meeting her son Benjamin Keough. Benjamin passed away in a tragic way this year in July through a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Presley recently remembered her "beautiful" son on what would've been his 28th birthday in an emotional message. On October, 21, Wednesday, the 52-year-old mother posted a picture of Benjamin from a previous birthday on her Instagram account and captioned it with a tear-jerking note.
"My beautiful beautiful angel, I worshipped the ground you walked on, on this earth and now in Heaven," she penned and continued, "My heart and soul went with you." Writing about the grief she has been dealing with ever since his death and the struggle of overcoming it, she continued, "The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day."
The singer-songwriter is also a mother to actress Riley Keough, 31, whom she shares with ex-Danny Keough, and twin daughters, Harper and Finle, 11, whom she shares with ex-husband Michael Lockwood. It is well known that she and Benjamin were very close and so it doesn't come as a surprise when she added in her touching tribute that she "will never be the same."
"Please wait for me my love, and hold my hand while I stay to continue to protect and raise your little sisters and to be here for Riley," she wrote. "I know you would want that," she continued and concluded, "Happy Birthday my sweet sweet Boy. You were much to [sic] good for this world."
Riley also took to Instagram to remember her brother and shared some throwback pictures of the time that are now just memories. She captioned it, "Happy Birthday beautiful angel." She also shared a snapshot of what Benjamin's former girlfriend, Diana Pinto, shared, where she wrote, "Happy birthday my love," along with a slideshow of pictures of the good old times. The two were dating since September 2017.
She further added, "Not much to say just a really hard day, And isn't it ironic World Series Tampa Bay v Dodgers this year, I bet you're getting a kick outta that. I love you."
Just a week after Benjamin's passing, Pinto had posted a tribute to her "best friend" who was "the most beautiful boy I have ever seen." She wrote, "You made me the luckiest girl in the world, to have you, to hold you, to love you and to be loved by you are the only things that have ever mattered," reported E Online.
She continued, "I will cherish all the memories we've made together and keep them close to my heart. I feel your silliness within me still making me laugh. Every second of every day I think of you, now. I know the true meaning of grief." Printo concluded the post by saying, "Te amo mas que el sol y la luna mi amorcito," which means I love you more than the sun and the moon, my little love.
Back in July when the shocking news of Benjamin's demise surfaced, Presley's representative, Roger Widynowski, had come forward and made a statement to People that she was "beyond devastated" over the death of her son.
He added, "She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life."
The mother and son were so close that they had got a matching tattoo for mother's day in 2009, that Presley said was "a Celtic eternity knot" that represents "eternal love and connection."
