"He is making great strides, and we as a family couldn’t be more grateful."
Utah Little Leaguer Easton Oliverson fell from his bunk bed on August 15th, 2022, and fractured his skull, causing him to slip into a coma.
According to several reports, the incident occurred at the Williamsport, Pennsylvania dormitory where he and his Snow Canyon teammates were staying ahead of their first game in the Little League World Series.
After the accident, he was airlifted to Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, per PEOPLE. He was put in a medically induced coma following the surgery, per NY Post.
Easton's father, Jace Oliverson, is a coach based out of Santa Clara, Utah, and shared with KSL-TV how his son was injured. "He just hit the ground super hard. Fractured his head. Fractured his cheekbone," Jace said. "Fell about 6 feet high. It was carpeted, but it's a pretty hard floor. But he just unfortunately just landed right."
Thankfully, the little one is showing signs of recovery.
Oliverson's MRI scan results were "very promising," his family said, which is "a big step" in the young athlete's recuperation, according to a Facebook page they set up to update followers on his condition.
"Easton keeps proving himself to be the fighter we have always known he is," the family said. Additionally, the young baseball player from Utah's Snow Canyon team is finally off a breathing tube.
"The prayers are working! Please keep them coming," the post concluded.
Now, it seems like the prayers did work because the most recent updates on the Facebook account showed that the boy has been moved out of the ICU and into. regular room where he was awake and conscious. He even had a bite of food to eat, all by himself.
Along with that, he also "has been sitting up in a chair, and was able to stand up and take two steps with support!" Also, "He has been communicating more frequently with his Mom, Dad, and Uncles who have been at the hospital with him. His voice has been significantly more clear when he talks!"
"He is making great strides, and we as a family couldn’t be more grateful. At this time, we would like to ask specifically for prayers of understanding and peace for Easton as he comes to learn of and accept the situation that he is now in. As always- THANK YOU, WE LOVE YOU!!" the family shared.
Here's hoping the strong and brave boy makes a full recovery in no time.
