Amy Roloff has been through a roller coaster of emotions during 2019 and this holiday season is being spent with her family, whom she cherishes.
No matter how widely spread across the world your kith and kin are, it's the traditions that bring people back together during Christmas. New people are brought into the fold of the family and new traditions are added to make space for the new members too. Christmas might be the best time to ease difficult situations like accepting a new man in one's mother's life, which can be really hard. When you have seen your mother as only the wife of your father or as a single mom, it can make even mature and adult children hesitant to welcome the new person in her life.
However, Little People Big World's (LPBW) star Amy Roloff is doing it with ease. During season 14 of the show, a lot of emotional ups and downs occurred in Roloff's life. From finding happiness with the man she loves to losing one of the most important people in her life, her mother, she has been through a lot.
The mother-of-four announced in September that she got engaged to long-time boyfriend Chris Marek, who proposed to her during their third anniversary. "I never had a clue or expected it. Chris and I celebrated our 3rd year anniversary of dating last Wednesday. And to my wonderful happy surprise he proposed and asked me to marry him! I couldn’t believe it! I cried, he had tears and of course I said YES! I’m engaged and couldn’t be happier. I love this man so much," she said on Instagram.
While Roloff has welcomed Marek with open arms, her children were initially reluctant to let him into their life. "Chris is, like, the new guy on the scene,” she told Us Weekly. "So, to my kids, it’s like, ‘Wait a minute — what is mom doing? Who is this person?’ And just helping them to appreciate that life does go on and, you know, he is a person you don’t know but I’m so appreciative of the respect and everything that they have given him," she added.
However, that is changing and now her children are also welcoming Marek into their lives. Marek recently spent time with Roloff's son, Zach, and his wife, Tori. "It’s Christmas time and what fun Chris and I had to go with @zroloff07 and @toriroloff Jackson and baby Lilah to pick out their Christmas tree. Moments like this make the holiday season merry and bright. What are some of your traditions or things you like to do during the Christmas holiday?" shared Roloff on Instagram.
She also spent time with her children and their partners on the Roloff Farm, which she used to co-own with her ex-husband, during the holiday season. What better time to bring together all the people she loves into one room.
In 2019, she lost her mother, Patricia Knight, 84, and decided to move out of her cherished Roloff Farm. Since her divorce from Matt Roloff three years ago, she had still been living on their joint property. But she's moving into a new home with her fiance now, according to CountryLiving. She sold her half of the farm to her ex-husband to go forward with her life, but having an emotional year hasn't been the best thing for her.
"I must admit I haven’t handled the collision of all these wonderful and sad emotions and life moments all at once as gracefully as I had hoped or wanted," she wrote on Instagram.
She's taking time during the holiday season to do humanitarian work, move into her new home, and get closer to her family, who have always been there for just like she's been there for them.
And it looks like she moved into her new home with Marek just in time for Christmas! She posted a picture of them in front of a lit up tree, thanking Jesus for all the love and blessings he has showered upon her.
