The world of music lost another one of its stars to mental illness. Country star Luke Bell died on 29th August 2022 after being reported missing for a few days prior to his death. The American country musician played the yodel, and was addressed as a Classic Honky-Tonk by Rolling Stone Magazine. His sudden demise had led his family and fans disheartened, as per the New York Post.
As per Brian Buchanan Bell's manager, Bell was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and had gone missing before his fatal disappearance in Tuscon, Arizona. The 32-year-old musician's body was discovered in Tuscon, Arizona around the same area 10 days after he was reported missing, per New York Post.
“We have lost our beloved son, brother, and friend and we are heartbroken,” stated Bell's family after confirming his death.
"Luke had a gentle heart, a wanderer’s spirit, and a musical gift that he was fortunate to share with us and the world. We are so grateful to his friends and fans for embracing Luke and his music. We would like to thank all of Luke’s fans, friends, and family who have been sharing stories and photos of happy times with him,” they added. According to the reports, Bell was suffering from mental illness and it aggravated after the death of his father in 2015. It was difficult for Bell to recover from his condition and it worsened at the end of his journey.
“Unfortunately Luke suffered from disease of mental illness, which progressed after his father’s death in 2015. Luke was supported through his disease by a community of loving family and friends. Despite this, he was unable to receive the help he needed to ease his pain. Our hearts go out to the millions of people affected by mental illness who, like us, understand the devastating disappointment of a system that consistently fails to provide caring solutions to those who suffer.” Bell's family shared.
The family has requested privacy as they deal with this untimely tragedy. “As we navigate our heartbreak we respectfully ask for privacy to allow us room to grieve and honor his memory. Our only comfort comes in the fact that our Luke is finally free and at peace,” they said.
“Luke fought this as hard as he could, but the disease got the better of him, When he was beating the disease, he was the sweetest and most generous guy. He’s found peace now and there’s some comfort.” Buchanan told TMZ. Even though the reason for his death is still unknown, his manager suspects it to be due to the medicines he was prescribed for his condition. It is uncertain whether Bell took the medications before he disappeared or not.
Bell gained popularity and fandom through his song, Where Ya Been? and The Bullfighter. He also won the Best Honky Tonk Male Award at the Ameripolitan Music Awards. His final album consisted of songs from his previous album in 2014. His songs received attention from music magazines like Rolling Stone and NPR Music which featured the artist in their editions.
This is so very sad. I wish we spoke more about mental illness. It needs the same support of any other disease. Please have a listen to #LukeBell today and honor this country soul who lost his battle. I hope he’s finally found the peace he sought.https://t.co/BnvFmhhKGv— Jessica Chastain (@jes_chastain) August 31, 2022
