"We have been through a lot, to say the least as friends and as a couple that most would not be able to handle," she said.
Honey Boo Boo’s Mama June Shannon and her husband Justin Stroud are enjoying a significant milestone in their marriage. The 43-year-old Mama June: Road to Redemption star and Stroud, who said "I do" in a Georgia courtroom last March, celebrated their first anniversary on March 23. Shannon shared a moving post celebrating the event on her Instagram.
"To the person that is the most imperfect person but the most perfect person in my eyes HAPPY 1ST ANNIVERSARY today one year ago I married my best friend even though we met almost 2 years ago," Shannon posted, per PEOPLE. "A lot of people didn't want us together or thought we wouldn't make it but we have been through a lot, to say the least as friends and as a couple that most would not be able to handle. We have done it together and have figured out every situation together I have never experienced that before so it has been very nice," she wrote.
"I know I don't tell you enough lately with everything going that u are amazing I appreciate you for being with everything when I know it's hard to deal with at times but I'm glad you are with me and girls to help with it," Shannon shared in her post, adding, "I can't wait to see what the future holds."
She continued writing, "I know all the good and the bad, and whatever life throws at either of us we will get [through] it together thank you for allowing me to experience true love for the first [time] and never wanting anything for me but just for me. In the words of u my corny goody self I love you so much," she concluded her post.
On February 18, Shannon and Stroud renewed their vows in an "intimate oceanfront ceremony" at the SpringHill Suites in Panama City, Florida, per PEOPLE. "We wanted to have a small and very intimate wedding, so we didn't have any groomsmen or bridesmaids," said Shannon. "All four of my girls walked me down to Justin, and his mom walked him down the aisle."
Along with her grandchildren Stella, Sylus, and Bentley Efird, Shannon's daughters Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efird, Jessica "Chubbs" Shannon, and Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell were at her wedding last month. "This was the first time the family had all been together since 2014," said Shannon. "So it was really special to get married in a place where my family and I have had so many memories!"
