We've all heard of that one person who thinks they have the right to control others simply because they assume they know better than others. Some of them even go to the extent of telling others what to wear or how to talk. Zoe Scholefield from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, shares one such story.
When Zoe planned a night out with her friends, he decided to share a list of 12 commandments that she ought to follow. The list included extremely specific rules that pretty much defined how she should move or what to wear, including "don’t dance like a s**g in reflex" and "send me photos of front and back of what you are wearing so I can approve." According to the Daily Mail, he even demanded that she keeps sending photos of all the specific concerts of a music festival and also let him know if other men approached her at any time. She decided to post a photo of the numerous rules sent to her by this unnamed man and it went viral. Clearly, women around (and men) had much to say about the controlling boyfriend.
Zoe shared the post on Twitter with the caption, "Funny how my ex sent me stuff like this then has the audacity to cheat on me."

The post received more than 34,000 likes and 3,000 retweets since she uploaded it on August 9, according to Metro UK.
In the post, the man, who now has been dumped, said: "Don’t dance like a s**g like in Reflex, Don’t get too drunk, No boys and if anyone comes up to you and talks to you, you tell them you have a boyfriend, Look after your drink at all time to make sure no one puts owt in it...You let me know everything that happens and be ready to explain stories, Always send me photos of front and back of what you are wearing so I can approve and say whether or not I think you should wear it."
If there weren't enough, the post continued, "Even when I’m asleep text me to tell me things so I can see in the morning, If you find the time call me or ft [Face Time] me, but let me know in advance, If you can, [I] want a video of room before you sleep to prove no one else is there and you are off to sleep."
People on Twitter had strong opinions to share and didn't flinch words. One person said, "Your ex needs to attend a mental health hospital" while another added, "Wow your ex sounds like the most toxic, dangerous, sociopath alive."
There were others who said, "It's paranoia. He thinks you’re going to do what he did to you, so he tries to control you. Used to have a mate that did that to his ex." Another person posted a sarcastic message saying, "Reading between the lines I think he meant have a great time stay safe love you lots eh?"
A woman said, "Don’t know who needs to hear this, but if your partner lists even one of those things then you should show them the door. Control isn’t affection or love."
That's right, ladies. Love is all about mutual respect. While it is important to be considerate of each other, love cannot exist when there is an overt need to control.
