It's been almost four years since the couple has taken different paths but Nick Cannon still holds her in high regard.

Not just on stage, Mariah Carey is a diva in real life too!
She has braved through two failed marriages which had left her emotionally broke but it almost seems surreal how she has bounced back to being her awesome self again. A strong woman, however, is difficult to forget. Which is probably why her ex-husband and TV personality Nick Cannon recently confessed that he is done with marriage now that he isn't with Carey anymore.
He also revealed that, while he does not intend to get into a relationship anymore, if given a chance he will marry the All I Want For Christmas hitmaker again, Hollywood Life reported. Speaking on T.I.’s podcast ExpediTIously with Tip T.I. Harris! Cannon revealed that Carey is his "dream girl." Although he did mention that the concept of marriage eludes him and he has commitment issues. But if there is one person for whom he could do it all over again, it's Carey.
“I think I’ll never be able to be with just one woman again. I did it in marriage, I was very faithful in my marriage. The reason why we split up had nothing to do with infidelity, nothing like that,” Cannon explained of his marriage with Carey, which spanned between 2008-2014 (the divorce was finalized in 2016).
“Once I stepped away from that, I [realized] that construct is not designed for me,” Cannon continued. “I gave it my all. Because even before that, I was like, ‘I don’t believe in marriage.’ But, sh*t, it was Mariah Carey. Whatever she say, I’m with it. If she wanted to say we was going to the moon, I’m like, ‘Let’s go.’ If I’mma marry somebody, I’mma marry her,” he added.
He went on to add, “I know I’ll never be in a relationship again. I know I’ll never be married again." He later explained that he doesn’t “want to have to answer” to anybody, and wants to “be by [himself]…forever.” Cannon, a father of three [he had twins with Carey], admitted that he will like to have “more kids” and is a “hopeless romantic.” He just believes “relationships and mainly marriage is designed to please women.”
Adding to the same chain of thoughts Cannon had explained what he meant by his comment on remarrying Carey when he made an appearance on Ellen. “I’m still working on myself and trying to become a better man,” he said. “If I had to, I’ve already been there. I know what that’s like. I would go back home first before I do it again.” Carey and Cannon's love story dates back to 2008 when after just six weeks of dating, the couple wed on Carey’s private island in the Bahamas. The 11 years age gap between them (he is younger to her) did become the talk of the town after they revealed themselves as a married couple but they were head over heels in love with each other and consider each other as "soulmates."
In fact, they got themselves tattooed with each others' names shortly after the wedding. Such was their love that they got married every year on the anniversary as an expression of commitment towards one another. The couple played traditional wedding music, gave each other rings, and kissed when renewing their vows on their second wedding anniversary. "We get married every year," says Cannon. "That's our thing."
But things started falling apart when Cannon, reportedly, started talking about her ex-girlfriends publicly. After six years of togetherness, the couple parted ways in 2014 and the divorce was finalized in 2016. However, they are still on the same page about co-parenting their twin kids Monroe and Moroccan.
While Cannon revealed that he will not consider getting married again, Carey has moved on and is dating her creative director, Bryan Tanaka, 36. Ever since she split with Cannon, Carey has stayed tight-lipped about her personal life. “I just don’t feel comfortable talking about my personal life … me and my boyfriend don’t want to do that,” she told the Associated Press.
Lastly, while their fans and admirers are still divided over Cannon and Carey's decision to part ways, we can only wish them happiness and prosperity in whatever they decide to do!
