Mariska Hargitay recently took a break from the streets of Law & Order: SVU to join her family on a visit to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. After her family vacation was done, the 58-year-old singer took to Instagram to share images of the experience with her fans and followers. Hargitay can be seen beaming alongside her husband, Younger actor Peter Hermann, as they rode the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride at the resort's Epcot theme park on December 20. August, their eldest child, is seated just one row behind them in the photo, and he appears to be enjoying the enclosed roller coaster experience just as much as his parents. Hargitay captioned the cute pictures, "Best ride in the galaxy."
Hargitay, the mother of daughter Amaya and son Andrew, both 11, shared photos of her children enjoying the holiday parade at the Magic Kingdom park, as well as a touching photo of herself watching the fireworks in front of Cinderella's Castle with one of the children draped around her arm, per TODAY. The family has long enjoyed theme parks, as seen by a yesteryear photo she uploaded of her and Hermann with a very young August.
But the family's love of the locale is not the only reason they were there. Hargitay was given the honor of narrating the Candlelight Processional during Epcot's International Festival of the Holidays on December 19 and 20. She is one of many celebrities, including Whoopi Goldberg, Josh Gad,and Neil Patrick Harris, who have volunteered to narrate the tale of the first Christmas to visitors this season. In another Instagram post, she expressed gratitude to Disney for the "great honor" of hosting a segment of the event, adding, "What a glorious gift and what a beautiful tradition."
The actress, 54, told PEOPLE in 2018 that nothing beats being a parent to her sons Andrew Nicolas, 612, and August Miklos, 11, as well as daughter Amaya Josephine, 7, with her 13-year actor spouse, Peter Hermann. “The thing that’s made me a better parent is my kids,” says Hargitay, whose eyes well up at the mention of her family. “Because they taught me to really listen. My husband is my North Star, and my kids are my teachers.” She feels like her family is perfect, “Our family is so perfect, or at least perfect for me,” she said. “Together we’re just this whole, happy, joyful, chaotic, crazy unit. I’ve never known anything that was more right.”
