Camila Alves is all about supporting her husband first. Matthew McConaughey, 53, and Alves, 41, first met at a nightclub in 2006 and tied the knot in 2012. The couple has been happily married for more than ten years and share three kids: sons Livingston and Levi, ages 10 and 14, and daughter Vida, age 13. The 53-year-old Hollywood actor has had a flourishing career in the industry and much of it has to do with his wife being there for him and taking care of the family while he works.

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actor previously told PEOPLE how much he loves Alves' willingness to take their family wherever his career led him. "When I go to work, she says, 'All right, kiddos, we're all going.' No discussion. She has things she does in her own life that she's willing to drop, put in second place," he said. "[She says,] 'You're the primary breadwinner … We're going with you. This is your career. We're going.' That's a huge privilege."

The actor grew up with two other siblings but wants a much bigger family. He said that he has to play a big role in raising his three children to grow up into confident adults. "I’d like to have eight more kids, but my wife’s not on the same page," he said in March 2020, per PEOPLE. "I understand that. It’s a lot easier for us [men]," he added. The Texan mentioned that he saw himself in a paternal role since he was a child. "I remember at 8 years old, it’s really the only thing I ever knew I wanted to be was a dad," the actor said. "I’ve got a large hand in shepherding my three children up until they’re 18 and out of the house… That’s the thing I think I do most honorably is having three autonomous, conscientious, confident children," he said.

As for keeping their long-term relationship fresh, the pair always make time for date night despite having busy schedules and raising three children. "Sometimes it's just a staycation, taking one night at a hotel that's 15 minutes away from your house," the Brazilian-born model, mom, and founder of the organic baby food line, Yummy Spoonfuls, told Ocean Drive, in 2017, according to PEOPLE. "But you pack a backpack. You go to dinner. You get to have talks and sleep in the next day. Walk around, have breakfast and lunch together."
