The Queen's Commonwealth Trust issued the official Christmas card of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that shows baby Archie in a spirited mood!
Not long ago, Prince Harry spoke about his and Meghan Markle's struggles to cope with the constant media scrutiny and criticism directed towards them for almost everything they do. Shortly after, the couple announced that they will spend Christmas away from the royal family in Canada, reports The Sun.
Just sharing the sweetest Christmas Card from our President and Vice-President, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Very Merry Christmas, everyone! pic.twitter.com/McOcHALoGl— The Queen's Commonwealth Trust (@queenscomtrust) December 23, 2019
Amid the Christmas cheer, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have released their official Christmas card which features an utterly cute baby Archie and the internet had a collective meltdown. The royals are pictured on the floor sharing a hearty laugh with twinkling lights and a Christmas tree in the background. But the one who stole their thunder is baby Archie who is seen crawling towards the camera looking every bit a ball of cuteness.
The card reads, "Merry Christmas and a happy new year from our family to yours." And the bottom of the card goes, "this year we have chosen to send our holiday card electronically". It was also emailed to friends and colleagues on Monday with hard copies sent to family, reports The Sun.
The environment-friendly e-card was released on Twitter by The Queen's Commonwealth Trust.
From day one, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have fiercely guarded their little prince against the public eye. From his christening to their initial public appearance with him, they had made sure he was well-protected until the South Africa tour of the couple where he was seen in Meghan Markle's arms. The few times that he has been out with his parents he has stolen the show and had left everyone in awe of his cuteness.
The couple has been enjoying a quiet and private time in Canada on an extended vacation and it seems they want to stay away from their life in the public eye for as long as they can. According to the Daily Mail, one friend said, "They have barely set foot outside the door and have been enjoying some quality family time together," quotes The Sun.
It's reported that Meghan's mum, Doria has also been visiting them from LA. However, their decision to stay away from home to spend alone time has been majorly criticized by the British media. In fact, one family member told Sun Online, "Even before the Duke became ill, many were at a loss as to why Harry and Meghan would miss what could be one of the last family Christmases with the Queen and Philip." Prince Philip - the Duke of Edinburgh - who is Prince Harry's grandfather was recently admitted to the hospital due to a pre-existing condition, reports CNN.
Another statement from a palace aide says, "The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both. In addition, "The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family."
"They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”
Whatever may be their reasons for spending time away from the limelight during the holidays, we sure are glad to get a glimpse of the adorable baby Archie!
