Since the day Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from their roles as senior royals, people have split their opinions about them. While some think they are the rebels who refuse to bow down to the archaic traditions of British royalty, much like People's Princess, Diana, others think they are brats who are acting out. Now, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are being compared to Yoko Ono and John Lennon.

During an interview with Elle, royal historian Robert Lacey pointed out the similarities between the two women and said, “Meghan is curiously like Diana in her subversion of the Royal Family. The other person I compare [Meghan] to is Yoko Ono; a determined, original woman who came into a set of British folk heroes and stole one of Britain’s cherished folk heroes."

“She [Yoko] made John [Lennon] her own. The same is true for Harry and Meghan. Harry seems very happy to have been stolen away. The price of that is leaving the Royal Family," he added.

Ono married Lennon in 1969 and she was blamed for the split of the band, The Beatles, a year later. Even though band member, Sir Paul McCartney said that Ono wasn't involved in the decision of the band breaking up, some still believe it was Ono's incluence on Lennon that resulted in the split of one of the biggest bands of the 20th century, As per Express UK.

The Duke and Duchess have been together since 2016 after meeting on a blind date. In 2018, the couple walked down the aisle. Apart form the fact that Meghan, much like Yoko Ono, is older than her partner, both women share a passion in common with the men in their life. While Ono and Lennon, who had a seven-year age gap, shared a love for artwork, 39-year-old Meghan and 36-year-old Prince Harry share an interest in pursuing humanitarian causes. Richard Fitzwilliam, a royal commentator said, “The humanitarian aspect of Meghan and Harry’s earlier lives is pivotal to what they want to do, as you can see with the launch of Archewell.”

This is not the first time that the royal couple has been compared to Ono and Lennon. According to Judi James who is a body language expert, the couple is morphing into Ono and Lennon with their bohemian style and power couple attitude.

While talking to Fabulous Digital, as cited by The Sun, James said, “With Meghan and Harry going further down what looks like the John and Yoko's 'power-couple-for-global-harmony’ route, Meghan’s emphatically casual, bohemian styling here and her free-wheeling body language place her as firmly away from royal traditions and restrictions as possible."

“The woman who we once watched struggling with rules like crossing her legs at her ankles and which side to place her clutch purse is now sitting with one leg bent casually up on her chair when she’s not mirroring the body language of her hero Gloria,” she added.

In the words of the royal insider, Lady Colin Campbell, Meghan has "beguiled" Prince Harry. During her appearance on the Channel 5 documentary Kate v Meghan: Princesses At War, she said, "Everything I hear is that Harry is completely beguiled by Meghan and completely enthralled to her and has changed considerably," she said, as per Independent. It's true that Meghan's arrival has brought a big change in Prince Harry's lifestyle.

Prince Harry, meanwhile, has transformed for the better in his 30s, and has blossomed into what many call a proud and caring father, with Meghan and Archie by his side. The former party boy has stepped away from smoking, living on fast food and alcohol and it looks like he's enjoying the change quite a lot. He has now become a family man who takes being a responsible husband and father very seriously.

He previously said that fatherhood has changed him. "Since becoming a father, I feel the pressure is even greater to ensure we can give our children the future they deserve, a future that hasn't been taken from them, and a future full of possibility and opportunity," he said, according to People.

"I want us all to be able to tell our children that yes, we saw this coming, and with the determination and help from an extraordinary group of committed individuals, we did what was needed to restore these essential ecosystems."

Prince Harry and Meghan moved to Montecito, California with their one-year-old son, Archie right after they stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family last year.
