While Thanksgiving may have passed us by, Melanie Griffith is still expressing gratitude for the people in her life, particularly her mother. On Monday, the 65-year-old actress shared a sweet snap with Nathalie Kay "Tippi" Hedren, her 92-year-old mom who is best known for her role as Melanie Daniels in Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 movie The Birds. "Thankful that my Mom is still here with us," Griffith wrote in the caption.

According to Good Morning America, Hedren devoted many years of her life to charity and is an animal rights activist. She is the founder and president of the Roar Foundation, which supports the Shambala Preserve in Acton, California. The humanitarian has also worked with relief programs to help those affected by calamities such as earthquakes and hurricanes as well as famine and war.

Hedren's daughter often posts about her on social media. More recently, Griffith did so for her mother's 92nd birthday with a carousel of photos of Hedren, writing in the caption, "Happy Birthday Mom!! You are so beautiful, tenacious, gracious, elegant and YOU ARE 92!! Happy happy birthday... I love you very much!"

The Oscar-nominated Griffith is herself a mom to actress Dakota Johnson and she reportedly advised her daughter against acting, despite so many members of the family being in the industry. This includes not just Griffith and Hedren but also Dakota's dad, Don Johnson, and former stepdad, Antonio Banderas.

"They discouraged [me]," Johnson told W Magazine of her parents' advice towards her pursuing acting. "See how well that turned out? But I understood. They wanted me to have as much of a childhood as I could." When the 50 Shades of Grey star was asked how old she was when she knew she wanted to act, Johnson said, "Nothing old. Zero old."

"I couldn't wait because I grew up on set. My parents were always working with amazing artists, and I just loved it," she said. "I wanted to be a part of it so badly."

The Persuasion star is currently dating Chris Martin, the frontman of the band Coldplay.  Discussing her "private" relationship with the singer in an interview with Elle UK, she shared that the two enjoy a "cozy" life together.

"We've been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes, but we both work so much that it's nice to be at home and be cozy and private," she told the outlet. "Most of the partying takes place inside my house."

The two have been reportedly dating since 2017 but have kept their relationship on the down low. Martin revealed in an interview earlier this year that his girlfriend helped improve his live gigs by gifting him a SUBPAC, a vest that allows the person wearing it to feel the vibrations of sound. The gift reportedly inspired him to hand out SUBPACs to hearing-impaired audience members at Coldplay concerts, according to Cosmopolitan
