"I was like, my mama gon' have to see this. Let me call her and be like, 'I'm sorry. It's out here,'" Jordan shared.
Fans are cheering Michael Jordan on as he reclaims the title of "Sexiest Man Alive." For a sultry new 2023 ad, the Creed III star is pictured in just underwear, from Calvin Klein's 2023 Spring/Summer collection. "The debut. @Michaelbjordan Calvins or nothing," Calvin Klein captioned the 2 pictures posted on their Instagram handle, with the actor, producer, and director tagged.
After his now-viral underwear commercial, Michael B. Jordan's first thought was reportedly to go on and apologize to his mother, he told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his movie Creed III. "I was like, my mama gon' have to see this. Let me call her and be like, 'I'm sorry. It's out here,'" Jordan shared. "My business all out in the streets -- literally," he added, laughing.
The images, which were captured by renowned photographers Mert & Marcus, are the first time Jordan has collaborated with the company. A number of classic black-and-white images highlight Jordan's toned physique. People magazine designated Jordan as the "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2020. "Everybody always made that joke, like, 'Mike, this is the one thing you're probably not going to get.' But it's a good club to be a part of," Jordan said at the time.
Jordan called both the movie and the advertisement a "moment," so the pictures couldn't have arrived at a better time. "This was like, a moment, you know? Just to have everything come together at one time, it feels great," he gushed. "And to be able to share that moment with my other actors, who are having a moment of their own as well, it just feels special. It feels like everything is happening at the right time."
"Styled in our new Calvin Klein 1996, Athletic and Modern Cotton Performance underwear styles, the visuals reinforce his discipline and uncompromising commitment to his craft," the brand shared in a statement, per Good Morning America.
Regarding Creed III, which serves as Jordan's feature film directorial debut, the Black Panther star claimed that directing the movie as opposed to just being an actor in it doesn't feel all that different. "I mean, maybe a little bit," Jordan admitted. "I just know I got to introduce the movie. So, other than that, it's kind of business as usual. Just talking with you guys, talking about the movie, talking about my wonderful actors. It's awesome."
Even though it seems to be "business as usual," the superstar's presence at the premiere with his family is unique. "We thick out here tonight, and it feels good," Jordan said. "Hometown crowd. I got my family here, they're watching the movie for the first time. So, it's really special tonight."
