There was a time when everyone wanted a piece of Michael Jackson, aka the King of Pop. However, ever since the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland was released, his name's been surrounded by controversy, even in death. Now, Jackson's former maid Adrian McManus has come forward with a few unique details from his brief relationship with his first wife Lisa Marie Presley.
According to McManus, the Smooth Criminal singer, despite being married to Lisa, never loved her. He only faked it because he reportedly wanted to get his hands on Elvis Presley's extensive music catalog.
Per Daily Mail, McManus alleged that Jackson never loved Lisa, and he was also using her to get to the fortune Elvis left behind. Additionally, she says Jackson also planned to usurp the rights to more than 1,000 of his songs from his daughter, who became the sole surviving beneficiary of The Elvis Presley Trust following the Love Me Tender singer's death on August 16, 1977.
McManus, who worked for Jackson at his Neverland ranch for four years, said she felt sorry for Lisa, a singer and model when she first started dating him, in 1993.
"What I felt with Lisa Marie, she was very kind. I think that Lisa really truly had a thing for Michael. I think she really liked him and the sad part is I had read notes that Michael had in his bedroom. He wrote a note on his bedroom 'to do' board, which read, 'Got to acquire the song list for Elvis'."
"It was pinned up on a piece of paper in ink, next to notes saying things like, 'I want to heal the universe' and 'I want to walk hand in hand with Prince Andrew's children'. I thought his Elvis note was a business plan, like when he bought the Beatles catalog. Not long after, Lisa Marie turned up at the house - Michael never mentioned her before," said McManus.
She added, "So I don't think he was being genuine to her. He wanted Elvis' legacy and I think Lisa was kind of played for a fool, sad to say. But I think she learned." The former maid further alleged that the couple did not consummate their marriage, saying, "I don't believe anything sexual happened between them at all and I think after she married him, she realized he just wanted what she had."
She then went on to talk about how there was just no chemistry between the two. "Lisa Marie and Michael had a strange relationship. I never saw them have any real genuine romantic interaction. She came to the house quite a few times, but they were always fooling around. They were more like friends than lovers; there wasn't a lot of chemistry. Lisa Marie never even stayed over in his room that I can remember; Michael always made her stay in the guest unit or Rose Room."
He reportedly even went to great lengths to prove to others that he was in love with Lisa Marie. "One day Michael called me into his room and asked me to tidy the bed. I could smell perfume, which was sprayed over the sheets, and a bra was just laid underneath the bed. Lisa Marie hadn't been there, but I felt Michael was trying to prove to me that they were dating."
The former maid said she was beyond sorry for Lisa Marie because she knew she was completely in love with the Thriller singer, but he just didn't reciprocate the feelings. "She never saw the man who locked himself away with children. I was surprised when they got married. I think he married Lisa Marie to prove to the world that he liked women and was straight."
