The King of Pop's oldest son has followed in his father's footsteps by doing charity work that has a real impact on the community.
While a lot is known about Michael Jackson as the iconic star who creates magic on stage, not much is known about his relationship with his children and how devoted a father he was. His lawyer, Tom Mesereau, recounts an incident that reveals how deep their bond was—and how that special bond between dad and kids has strengthened after his death.
Mesereau told MyLifeTime about the time when the King of Pop was lying in bed recouping from a hard day's work, and his kids—Prince, Paris, and Blanket—started jumping on his bed. Despite being exhausted, he gave them his time and let them have their fun rather than asking for his nanny to take them away. Prince and Paris were born to Jackson’s second wife, Debbie Rowe, and Blanket was born through a surrogate mother.
"I never saw a more doting father in my life," Mesereau said. "Absolutely loved his kids, and they loved him. You really watched him with his kids, and you didn’t see a selfish narcissist or a celebrity. You saw a very caring, giving father who wanted to be simple and quiet and teach his children about the world."
A year later, in 2010, his three kids attended the Grammys to receive his Lifetime Achievement Award. At the event, Prince had said, "We will continue to spread his message and help the world."
His oldest son, Prince explains how he still feels his father's presence in his life. Prince graduated with cum laude honors from Loyola Marymount University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He and his brother, Blanket, launched a YouTube movie review channel together in 2019 since both of them are interested in filmmaking. Prince explained how his father always wanted his children to "chase their dreams," and that he feels his dad's presence guide them in this path.
"My dad was always a strong believer in going for what you want and go follow your dreams and chase your dreams… So for us to be able to kind of sit there and hopefully make a career about talking about film and looking at film – my brother wants to be a director, I love producing… It’s just, it’s definitely, there’s some form of guidance there that kind of is ushering us into the next generation," he said, according to Metro UK.
Paris who is now a model and actress has been brave and vocal about her mental health. Prince, as a proud older brother, once mentioned that, of the three siblings, only Paris has some of the talents of their legendary dad since she can sing. The other siblings don't see themselves going down the same path as their dad. However, all three seem to have inherited their dad's generous spirit. Prince is following his father's footsteps by helping people, as he had promised in 2010. From holding benefits to forming foundations to help foster children who have aged out of the system, Prince has continues to give back to the world.
"It's just the way my dad raised me and my siblings. It's just like inbred to give back to the community. My dad always taught me to lead by example. So, I hope that I can set a good example that you can have fun by helping other people and make a change just by doing that," he told Today.
When asked if he felt responsible for his younger siblings, Prince said that was only sometimes. Paris, who is only a year younger than him, has grown up to become a strong woman. He mentioned how happy his dad would feel if he were alive to watch the three of them get along well.
"[Our father] would definitely be proud of the type of work we're doing by giving back to the community," Prince said.
This young man often avoids the spotlight and chooses to go public only to raise awareness on issues that he is passionate about and to find better ways to build a happy community. He does this through the nonprofit Heal LA Foundation. Here's us wishing all three of them the best of everything!
