Lauren Meehan's twin babies Emma and Julia were truly meant to be delivered by nurses also named Emma and Julia! The now mom-of-three from Denver, Colorado was pleasantly surprised at the reactions from the staff at the Rose Medical Center when she told them the names she had chosen for her newborn daughters. Meehan went into labor in early October and her daughters "decided to make an early and quick arrival in the middle of the night," she told TODAY. “While I knew why everyone had to move quickly, I always had a nurse by my side explaining everything and holding my hand," Meehan said as she was in the operating room.

When the nurses were tending to her, they asked her if she had any names in mind for her babies. They were trying to distract the mother from the overwhelming experience. When she replied that she loved the names Emma and Julia, the room "broke out in laughter." While the mother was confused by their reaction at first she later learned that the two nurses that would be helping to deliver Meehan's babies were also named Emma and Julia. “At that moment, in all the chaos, we were able to stop for a second and enjoy that moment knowing that those names were meant to be,” she shared. Meehan said that she looks forward to telling her children the endearing story someday. "Those two nurses will always be special to us and the entire team that took care of us that day with hold a special place in our hearts. It will be a funny story to tell our girls," she told TODAY

“I don’t think I would deliver anywhere other than Rose,” Meehan told KDVR.  The nurses themselves were surprised by the sweet interaction.  “We got on shift and twins were being born and typically two nurses have to be in delivery,” Julia Vanmarter, one of the nurses at Rose Medical Center. That's when she and her coworker Emma Anderson met soon-to-be mom-of-three, Lauren Meehan, and dad Chris Meehan as they entered the delivery room.  When they learned what the babies' names were going to be Vanmarter said “It was one of the most special days of our careers.”  “In the moment. I think it was special and made us realize these names were meant to be,” Meehan said adding that she had picked out the girls' names months before the due date. Like she said, it seems the names were truly meant to be, indeed!
