Four children lost their mother in a tragic accident involving an ATV over the weekend, while their father remains seriously injured. The collision happened on Saturday, March 11, around 6:25 p.m. in Huntingdon County, according to a press release from the Pennsylvania State Police. Both the driver, identified as 36-year-old Bret Hoffert, and passenger Amanda Hoffert, 34, were "ejected" after the car went into a ditch and overturned.

Bret was taken to a nearby hospital while Amanda was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to police. The couple were on a "mountain weekend getaway with friends" when the "horrific tragedy" occurred, according to a GoFundMe. "Amanda passed away at the scene and now Bret is in critical condition in a Pittsburgh trauma hospital," read a message on the fundraising page.

Amanda, aside from being a mother of four, worked as a registered nurse at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, per PEOPLE. According to officers, the couple's car was "traveling north on Block Hollow Road" when it "for unknown reasons" veered off the road. Investigations into the accident are still ongoing.

"Yesterday was the worst day of my life. The tragedy that took place yesterday was absolutely unimaginable, but I know Amanda Hoffert would be the first to jump in for any other family- so right now that is our focus. Please support the Hoffert family and share this page," GoFundMe organizer Kourtney Randsdorp wrote on social media over the weekend. "PLEASE pray without ceasing for Bret."

She loved her family, and I cannot imagine what they must be going through. Praying for God's comfort during this difficult time." Another friend of the family expressed their support, "Amanda was one of our L&D nurses during the unexpected stillbirth of our daughter. We will never forget her kindness and compassion. We are praying for the Hoffert family. Wes & Kim Bridgette."

A friend of Amanda's, Krista Erdman, posted the fundraiser on Facebook, asking for funds and assistance for her children. "She leaves behind 4 beautiful children who she loved so fiercely while her husband Bret fights for his own life. I spent many years working beside her and have countless memories, all of which ended in laughter. The world lost a good one," she wrote.
